Zoro doesn't need to do any of that, he can swing his sword horizontally and still make that cut.
Rooftop Dragon Blaze was a vertical slash that made a horizontal cut.

However, if Zoro is doing biomechanically impossible moves like delivering a sword swing that would require him to tilt his head 90 degrees (and thus snap his neck), then Shishio and co can’t whine about how it would be biomechanically impossible for Vergo to kick Sanji with his left leg the way he did without snapping his pelvis.
