As we know, haki expert, history PhD, scientist, warlord and lizard master Kaido spilled the beans long ago:


As long as your Haki is superior the grade of your sword doesn't matter at all.

Why? One example. Oden would've broken kaido's club when they fought. Oden had 2 high ranked swords and high haki stats. But they weren't higher than kaido's. So kaido could've used a spoon against Oden and it wouldn't have broken neither.

You can guess it.

Mihawk will break fujitora's supreme grade sword with his supreme grade sword showing off as WSS.

Zoro will break either Shiryu's supreme grade sword (if he has one) and/or Mihawk's Yoru using his inferior blades.

Maybe later when fame and wealth comes, he might come across a supreme grade sword and upgrade. But I doubt Roger explicitly needed his sword Ace to reach the top. Neither will zoro.

Zoro with 3 supreme grade swords >> Zoro with 3 ungraded swords. And yes, if the difference in Haki is minor, a superior weapon can make you edge out. Someone with a supreme grade blade like Shodai Kitetsu would be superior to someone with slightly stronger Haki wielding a ungraded blade.

Meito need to be Fed
They are Forged to Kill/Cut
They are Ranked by their Sharpness
Meaning the Higher Blade's Grade, the More Materials/Foes it can handle the Task of Cutting

The reason for that, is cuz the more Difficult something is to Cut, the Greater is the Will needed to Cut it
And Weapons are gonna carry that Will, if They can't handle that much, then a Weapon Upgrade/Addition is gonna be needed.
Also if a Weapon isn't living up to it's Potential, then it becomes Cursed

Slaying Dragons (Supposedly Toughest Beasts to Cut) was Associated with Great Grade Blades (Oden, Ryuma, Zoro)
This means that for anyone who wants to Cut what's even Harder than Kaidou, They need Supreme Grade, cuz even if their Will is Strong enough for that, They still need a Weapon that can Channel such Power

First Arc after Kaidou & We already getting Introduced to Ancient Robots, Unkillable Yokai, Tougher Elements to Cut such as Lasers and Invincible Lunarians ... etc To Sop these, you do need Supreme Blade

No, Haki is what made Zoro cut Daz bones… Not Zoro using a High grade sword against Daz’s steel

I’m pretty sure if Zoro had supreme grade sword he still wouldn’t have managed to cut Daz bones… Only haki can cut steel

Meaning Shodai Kitetsu cannot cut an ungraded sword with BETTER HAKI… it will not be able to overcome the better haki

Luffy G4 broke through Haki superior to his own. Obviously, a supreme grade sword has way more attack potency than an ungraded sword, and Haki here just serves as a boost to that attack power.

Didn’t Oda state in an SBS that Kaido’s club was on par with a supreme grade blade?

So yes, the caliber of your weapon absolutely does matter, and there is zero evidence Oden would have broken his club.

Everything has a threshold.
Haki is strong, but not impossible to overcome by brute force.
As far as I know a bomb has no haki. How could it ever damage Big Mom?
Magma has not willpower. How can it burn Kaido?

Luffys G4 was bruteforcing its way through Katakuris superior haki defense until Kata realized that he needs to dodge.
Franky got past haki users with plain phyiscal damage alone.

Haki may be the strongest indicator of power, but its certainly not the only one.

Oden has more attack potency when it comes to cutting. Fujitora so far used his blade in conjunction with his DF (e.g. gravity blade, raging tiger). And such moves, while having good attack potency, lack the lethality. Base Luffy who was still in bandages, ate a raging tiger for breakfast. Fujitora has yet to demonstrate the potency of his swordsmanship.

Yeah if your haki is strong enough having a graded quality weapon isn’t necessary to handle the force applied to it

Tho the higher the grade the less necessary it is to waste haki

And Zoro said he could only cut Pica if his haki was superior to Pica

This was Zoro’s 3 high grade sword versus Pica’s BARE SKIN… As in Skin vs Steel… And Both Zoro and Pica agreed that their final collision could only be settled by Haki… Pica jumped at Zoro with the confidence that as long his haki better than Zoro, he was fine… And Zoro agreed, he could only beat Pica if his STEEL SWORDS had better haki than picas BARE SKIN

Also when did G4 break superior Haki? Do you mean Cracker? Who told you Cracker used Haki for defense? Isn’t it repeatedly stated that cracker is glass canon? Cracker being very good at CoA for offense is WAY DIFFERENT from him being good at CoA for defense… An example of this is Zoro… who barely ever uses CoA for defense despite being VERY GOOD at it for offense

If you mean the biscuit soldiers then no, they weren’t hard because of haki… They were hard because of the material they are made of… Cracker called them “hard biscuits”… remember that Luffy never even comments about cracker’s armament haki until Cracker is out of the biscuits and damaging him…at no point does Luffy say the soldiers were using haki for defense… they are just hard biscuits

Hardening a blade doesn't require Haki change compared what's required in Attacking power.

There's no waste of haki.
