Mashima had a really nice interview a few months back where he explained why he uses the power of friendship trope. It was really heartwarming and sad actually.

I always wanted that not only Suzaku but all members of the BDSK ate the children of Selene so it would be nice to see that the 4 who ate her kids now must fight against her. It would be a mother vs children battle.
