Kidd is nothing but a hypetool. Some people overrate Kidd because he defeated Big Mom thanks to bombs. His defeat by Shanks was Oda putting Kids back in his place.

The beginning of the story itself was luffy creating a crew which will surprass shanks crew in order to become pirate king. That was the promise between luffy and shanks. Shanks gave his hat to luffy as a reminder for BOTH of them. So shanks in essential waited for luffy to grow up and gather his crew, waited for luffy to come to the new world. And NOW luffy is in the new world, which is why shanks said that they are going AFTER the one piece (end of wano). So he practically STARTED NOW to go after the one piece, because luffy is here.


So why did oda take out kidd with shanks?

For two reasons:

First, to bring shanks into the race for the one piece (he got 3 road poneglyphs) and equal him with luffy

Second, because kidd and law are part of the worst generation BUT are NOT luffys rivals for the one piece. They tried to be but FAILED. Luffys rivals ARE Shanks (since the beginning) AND "anti luffy" aka blackbeard (SINCE jaya). Everything else was just agendapiece by some fans.

So oda moved the story forward by beating the shit out of kidd by shanks.

And why did he have to destroy his crew? BECAUSE kidd had to DROPS OUT of the race, LIKE law, kaido and big mom. So now there are only 3 contenders left.

Even Marineford wasn't originally planned, but back then at least it was okay since he didn't really make other top tiers nor high tiers to look bad to hype Shanks

Nobody ever said shanks' fleet were good people. They're just weak. They're shanks' cover.

That episode straight up made shanks look like a villain. Didn't even give them mercy and tried to kill the whole crew without even taking the rubbings

Kidd vs Shanks was perfect, it ended just as it should've had, with a tremendous display of power from one of the strongest pirate against an arrogant idiot who didn't learn his lesson from the last time they've met.

There is no build-up ruined, Oda always portrayed Kid as arrogant, reckless and imprudent character and that did not change.

The problem is some of you thought Kidd was Sasuke when he has always been Kiba.
