At some point, a certain amount of ambition will always sound arrogant no matter what. if I say that I'm going to become the number one tennis player in the world, its going to sound arrogant. Even if I'm super passionate and train every day, it will still sound arrogant. There is no possible way for saying something this grand without sounding arrogant.
Kids arm is taken by red hair pirates but still kid has gone out and stated he wants to take down shanks, and that "arrogance" made fans dislike him. How is that arrogance? That's being willing to keep fighting and believing after losing, a quality all real life champions have. He then managed to go in to a yonko crew, wouding one of the commanders and take something. Challenged kaido and lost, and then still bounced back to defeat a yonko of equivalent strength and gain 3b bounty. So hes not just saying things, hes succeeding

I think a certain amount of ambition will be misinterpreted as arogance by some, when, like you said, it's just having that ambition and being willing to keep going in spite of not being there at a specific moment and sometimes failing.
And I think some people dislike Kidd because they haven't seen a lot of haki from him so they underrate him a lot, when in truth he is around admiral at the moment, and will beat Shanks.
Edit: I really don't like him hurting innocents, if that's what happened, but even if he did that, he will regret it once he becomes one of the strongest people and maybe try to make up for it to those villages or cities.

I would love to be wrong but I really dont see how shanks is supposed to lose to Kid when everything point out at him dying by Blackbeard's hands. Its the most convenient way for oda to take out shanks and make him even closer to the One Piece than ever to be Luffy's last obstacle. I am always opened to the unexpected thoug, maybe elbaf will change my mind
Kidd will come back, he will get much stronger, he wants to beat Shanks, and he will definetly be strong enough to do it by the time Laughtale is reached, and people have been predicting Shanks vs BlackBeard for so long, when what will happen may be more unpredictable.
I really dislike Shanks not challenging Kaido and Big Mom and his attack being overrated, Shanks is strong but he is a sword user, sword fights usually are one shots.
