Here's the thing, the entire so called debate is mostly based on lies such as "kids and teenagers getting hormones or genital surgery" en mass tho, the latter isn't done at all (Kim Petras is basically one of a handful or two handful of people world wide who got surgery with 16) and even the former is given rarely to people in their late teens with gender dysphoria diagnosis.
What happens after many months of prior therapy and consultations is the prescription of puberty blockers, which weren't even made for trans people many decades ago, but for children whos puberty started really early (happens in most cases for girls) aswell as people with intersex conditions (HRT hormones were also originally made to treat intersex people).
Now granted, there's indeed some medical researches with worrying implications that they cause lacks in development of bone structures by the halt of puberty that may be irreversible. If it's this uncertainty about the safety of puberty blockers in general (not just for teens with dysphoria diagnosis) or anything rational that would drive even scandinavian liberal countries to halt/prohibit the use of them it would be understandable, but thats not really the case.
For most loud people against such medical treatment it's really just a thinly veiled cloak (they also call for much more radical things against trans people as a whole) and a door opener for more radical anti-trans laws as we can see in republican us-states with some not allowing trans people to apply for a drivers license anymore to make it harder for them to flee from such state.
The entirety existence as people who explicitly don't identify with their birth gender is a affront, doesn't matter at what age. Either they're called as "unnatural that should not exist" by some atheists or considered "evil satanists" by lots of religious people. The only existence allowed for many is to live socially as the birth gender again, if even that after being branded as above.
