maybe you don't know me but I'm anti-wanj
So let me get this straight, not only is Mihawk all of a sudden not irrelevant and will get a backstory drop (that is totally unrelated to what Oda has already setup with his Marine Hunter portrayal btw) and will instead involve not only Big Mom, but Shanks who was also along for the ride?
Hell, for that matter, how did a guy who according to you is not even Post Time-Skip Usopp level and whom could not tag Pre-Skip Luffy even survive encountering her?
Is Big Mom and her crew THAT trash that Mihawk and Shanks got to escape despite Shanks seemingly also being so much of a fodder back in the day to be a rival for such a „weak“ man?
Nah, but to be real for a sec Ndule, Oda will not make Big Mom the reason Mihawk stopped "wanting to be Pirate King" as he totally did once upon a time according to you.
Never, in her ENTIRE history of being a character has Oda ever even so much as given a SINGLE indication of giving a fuck about Big Mom, her crew, or having any sort of tie or backstory with her tied to Mihawk of all people.
I would buy the idea that Mihawk quite literally painted Yoru black over the idea that Big Meme “crushed” Mihawk AND Shanks, two characters Oda respects INFINITLY more than Big Mom.
If Mihawk ever showed up in her territory and Big Mom was dumb enough to start shit? This is Mihawks reaction after he folds her and her entire family in a single evening:

Why would Oda hype up a defeated, pushed out of the story character?
Oda doesn't world build for the sake of it, in regards to PLs. He always has an agenda in mind.
What narrative agenda does Oda have by making Shanks or Mihawk lose to Linlin, a character written out of the story, at this point? If it were going to happen, we would've learned about it BEFORE going to Tottoland.

Roger --> tricked Linlin and avoided a battle
Shanks --> fought and lost or at best stalemate katakuri
Luffy --> went in and saved his teammate while taking down two of her commanders
That's exactly what Oda would do
Mihawk probably lost to Linlin or an admiral in the past with his friends betraying him
