Character Discussion Why aren’t One Piece villains as iconic and memorable as Naruto/DBZ villains?

Since when DBZ villains are iconic?
Frieza is simply racist , there is no character whatsoever.
naruto is a different breed.

One piece - Admirals , Cp0 , Warlords are good enough memorable Characters.

Dragon Ball and Naruto antagonists can have more light-hearted and comedic moments but when they are serious they are taken very seriously and are treated like a mortal threat.

And Dragon Ball villains generally have to be killed to stop being a threat.

@Logiko needs to teach you about toxic masculinity
You're not supposed to say "toxic masculinity" because that implies that some masculinity is not toxic. The politically correct talking point is "all masculinity is toxic."

Tbh, Oda just isn't particularly good at writing mastermind type of characters. Both Crocodile and Doffy had extremely simplistic (and very similar) strategies to achieve their goals. Trick the people of Dressrosa into thinking the king was a bad guy by parasiting him on one hand and trick the people of Alabasta into thinking the king was a bad guy by having Mr. 2 pose as him on the other.

Difference between the two is that Croc ran into the protagonist before his plans came to fruition while Doffy had already been set for years before the plot caught up to him. Add to that the much more involved world building we had by then and the web of connections and influence Doffy carved up for himself within it and Crocodile ends up looking like the low budget version.
Well you can't write a character that is smarter than yourself. This is why all the characters in OP are dumb.

I am still wondering how on Earth Oda managed to screw up so completely and disastrously with Kaido and Big Mom.

One thing is sure I would have not included Yamato, or at least not that way, and certainly not made the Scabbards and secondary Supernovas to be able of injuring Kaido in the first place, as well as explored Kaido's past and relations with his crew far more that Oda did.
Because Dragonball ended it's original run in 1995 and, in the early days, Oda tried to capture some of that dragonball energy, but now we're decades past DB and Oda isn't influenced by DB anymore and so he feels free to write the story that he wants and he wants goody protagonist that clowns his enemies.

For context, Toriyama was influenced by Kurumada and Buroson and their popularity forced Toriyama to change DB into a more serious story. Toriyama also wanted to be goody and you can see that at the start of dragonball in the poop gag and at the end of dragonball in buu turning people into candy.

A 50 chapter Dressrosa would have been such a great arc. If this arc was preskip it would be a lot closer to that mark...Oda became a professional time waster post timeskip, I guess money was the motivation here. Extending the manga's lifespan.
Post TS? Oda started stalling hard as soon as the Straw Hats entered the Grand Line, if not even before that.

Yeah.. Gender is over as they say. Its not that simple. Plus, he confuses manhood with masculinities, which is not really my jam.
Egh. Let me spell it out. Feminists hate men acting like men so for feminists all masculinity is toxic. That's it. Stop getting brainwashed by propaganda like gender or whatever. Think about the emotions. Why are people upset? Why do people want? In the case of masculinity feminists hate men acting like men because that makes them feel inferior hence all masculinity is toxic.

1. Most published studies are wrong.
2. I haven't read that study and so I can't verify their methodology.
3. I've been on Twitter and I've spoken with feminists and they hate anything that makes them feel inferior, like seeing men do anything manly. They want a world of equality, a world were women are the same as men and that means no masculinity or anything that separate male behavior from female.

Seems to me liek your the type of person who is easily brainwashed and doesn't actually understand issues and does a lot of mental gymnastics.

Sigh...

Feminism 101. Both masculinity and femininity violate equality so they're both bad. Men being aggressive or leading and women being docile or submissive both get labeled as "stereotypes" under feminism and both must be banned for violating equality. So no forms of masculinity or femineity are allowed under feminism. This is basic stuff.

Can you please take this debate elsewhere ?

Back to the subject, One Piece lacks antagonists who are really frightening and instill fear in even the most fearless individuals like Orochimaru did in Naruto, the only exception was Lily Carnation from the sixth movie.

Because that's not something human tend to be.

You will very rarely see a ruler in humanity who's goal is to purchase a goal by instigating fear. Even Hitler seeked to be loved at all cost.
