Questions & Mysteries Joyboy is Nami's father

#1
Birka
Some people doesn't know but there was a city called Birka in the moon of OP. That was the original Birka. After that, in the sky islands it was created a new city called Birka.
Haredas (Nami's sensei) is from Birka and he uses the same knot technique that Joyboy used in the last chapter. That is not the only connection between Birka and Nami. Nami is sweedish and Birka is an historical place in Sweden https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birka
But the coincidences doesn't end here: Birka was founded by the vikings. Elbaf has viking theme. Gan Fall says that there is a second way to go the sky island. It's already certain that this second way is Yggdrasil (the big tree from Elbaf). The most distant sky island from Skypiea is Birka. So Elbaf and Birka are probably very close to each other. I think both island has a lot in common, in the sense that you can find some things in common in their culture. For instance: God Nika (and thats is already proved because Nika was mentioned for the first time in skypiea and now we know he is God of Elbaf).

Enel
The most important character of Birka we met so far is Enel. He destroyed Birka when he started to believe he is god. The interesting thing here is that he removed his wings to become a god. Why he did it? Perhaps because he knew that God (nika) doesn't have wings. So Enel tried to be the new god nika. But part of his mission was go to the moon? Enel called that place as Fairy Vearth. We still don't know much what this mean. But we know that the original Birka is from there. Which character Enel chose to follow him in this travel? Nami (another connection between Nami and Birka). When he chose her it was like something from their own fate, something that link both to the original Birka.

Joyboy
Ok, my idea is that Joyboy is from Birka. The only clue we have for that is the knot. In the silhouette we saw that he doesn't have wings. So that means he is not from the second Birka. But he can be from the original Birka from the moon. Joyboy is not a "Monkey D". We know that because when Luffy tell his name to Emet, Emet just find interesting the "D", not the Monkey. If Joyboy was a Monkey D, Emet would be surprised with "Monkey D", not "D". We didn't see Joyboy color hair. He can be ginger. And as the title suggests he is Nami father.

Toki
To end the theory I want to talk about Toki. Toki's name is Amatsuki and means "Heaven Moon". When Oden came back to Wano, his daughter was playing a song that he never listened "the princess of the moon". Oden ask her where she learned that song. But he didnt get any answer. So, if Oden doesnt know that music this mean that music is not from Wano. Who taught that song to Hiyori was Toki. That means Toki has close connections to the Moon. Toki is from Joyboy's era and she travelled to the future. She could have send baby Nami to the future. What I want to say is that Nami is the Moon Princess and the daughter of Joyboy.
Last thing I want to point is that Nami means wave and the moon has control over the tides and waves

Elbaf will be Nami's origins arc
btw, moon's princess theme is this one

I doubt Joyboy but you are on the right track lol.

Me and 3daytrip a well known content creator are several steps ahead. 3days theory is out there on public disclrds idk if she posted it somewhere.

But my theory to add onto it is rather that Nami's bloodline is that of ancient wizards, who were aligned with Joyboy and his folks.

Nami, without doubt is a mage, and with that the only mage-type fighter in the entire series.
Let that sink for a bit lol

I'm in, solid theory.
I made the same theory about Zoro, lol.
The reason why Toki was looking for Wano was because Joyboy probably told her that he would reappear there...

We didn't see Joyboy color hair. He can be ginger.
Yes, his hair is red. His beard is black.
The nicknames of the Emperors are hints towards a single person.
Redhaired with Blackbeard wearing Strawhat...

That’s a really good observation! But I would simplify it to “Nami is connected to the Birkans” over “Joyboy is Nami's father.”

Nami’s story is mainly about her found family, so the story switching to her birth parents would slightly take away Nami’s connection to Bellemere.

A connecting theory would be Urouge, who is the final Supernova left for the crew to meet. Urouge is a Birkan and is probably Enel’s replacement for the New World. Some Paradise characters are making a comeback in the New World: Wapol, Lucci, Crocodile. So it wouldn’t be a stretch that Oda replaced a few; Ace with Sabo, probably.

Urouge and Uranus may be the main storyline in Elbaf. Uranus is the god of the sky and created the giants (real-world lore). So it would make sense a Birkan is connected to or is the actual ancient weapon Uranus.

Poseidon is a person who controls the Sea Kings. We saw Momonosuke command Zunesha, as if Zunesha could only do something if Momo said it first. Meaning Momo is the real Pluton and Zunesha is a Land King. So Uranus is a person who can control Sky Kings.

Who are the Sky Kings? Dragons probably. Vegapunk was researching the Ancient Kingdom while also making dragons in Punk Hazard. Dragons exist in Wano lore and the canonical story of Ryuma, Monsters.

So Elbaf may be a story of Urouge and Nami in some way. And dragons.

In response to the idea that Joyboy is Nami's father, it's important to note that Nami was born in the Oykot Kingdom and "Strong World" was originally going to be about the secrets behind Nami's birth. Since it was meant to be dealt with in a movie that typically isn't considered canon and doesn't get brought up in the manga, I don't think it's going to be something that Oda focuses on or becomes relevant to the overall narrative. He was willing to have this particular storyline be told through a movie, which tells me that he didn't intend to deal with it on his own.

You could argue that he has changed his mind, but keep in mind, Strong World was being developed alongside the Summit War Saga where Oda already had introduced Enel, the Weatherian Wizards, and Urouge. If Oda had intended Nami to be relevant to them and the end of the manga, I don't see him giving her backstory away in the movie.

This is false
Strong world was going to be about Luffy's childhood not Nami's parents

Here's whole interview -
Speaking of that, when it was still in “The Crystal Ship’s Log” stage, what did you plan it to be about?

The very first thing I thought was, “I’ve gotta be able to do something here that only I can do.” In other words, since I’m the author, what could I use that prerogative to create? I mean, that was the entire purpose of my involvement. I came to the conclusion that since the only person allowed to mess with the very core of the characters is me, I thought about doing something related to the origin of Luffy; going way back, a story that happened around just before Luffy began training with Ace. It was devoted to Luffy’s memories during that period, about a certain special animal he met around that time and it all came around to link up with modern Luffy…a real emotional story with a big chunk devoted to memories.

But as I was in the middle of writing it I started to worry, “Is this kind of cushy story the kind of thing I would really want to see?” I don’t believe I’ve ever written something purely for the purpose of making a ‘good story’. If that’s something that happens in the comic the overall story has to be longer and then I don’t mind a ‘good story’ in there among other things as a dash of spice, however, for something as short as a movie, if I just made a ‘good story’ it all came down to where I could fit in the kinds of things boys really want to see: action and strong characters.

Only time Oda talk about Nami's parents was during Gold interview
Gold scriptwriter wanted to include Nami's parents in Gold but Oda didn't let him.

"As long as it doesn't overlap with the original story"
How will story of Nami's real parents in non-canon movie will affect the manga? unless Oda has intention of including Nami's parents in original story.

Proof: http://onepiece.ria10.com/Entry/3999/

One of the early drafts of Strong World written by Oda was called "The Crystal Voyage."

It was centered around the secret of Nami's birth, but ultimately Oda thought it was too emotional and adult-oriented (not sexual, that's how Japanese talk of heavy themes) for a movie, so he decided to scrap it.

i definitely worded that incorrectly though, as "the secret of Nami's birth" doesn't necessarily imply learning who her parents are.

That's not Oda's interview but director of SW and site is adding random part of Oda's interview (2009) ( cutting the context )

Sakai himself mention it was too early to reveal the secret of one of the main character (Nami).

Oda has never talk about Nami's parents other than Gold interview

Joyboy? He's too old.

Gol D. Nami would make sense. She was captured by the Golden Lion Shiki in Strong World so there would be a gold parallel there. and the fact nami loves treasure.

I mean Nami can be from 2 famous names at once

She could be Gol D and Nerona or Monkey or Jaguar D and Nerona making her a half celestial who was thrown away for baring the name D.

The D brings a storm. Nami being a D makes too much sense. The alternative is being a "God" like Enel which is why Enel doesn't have to be D member.

Nami could potentially be both a god and a D clan member. She could be the Great grand daughter of Joyboy and Imu putting her in a very interesting place.

Jaguar D Nerona Nami

Ok ill stop...

Joyboy be a Jaguar D was debunked. He is not a giant.
I think Joyboy's family was not revealed yet

but what if the Jaguar family isn't exclusive to giants.

Jagaur Binks is a good guess for Joy boy's name but if that isn't the case

Maybe joyboy is just a Monkey D.
I talked about that in theory, but is not the case. Emet is not impressed about "monkey d" when Luffy told his name, only in "D". I'm sure if Joyboy was a Monkey D, he would make Emet say "Monkey D"

Fair point I guess, this is pretty hard to guess.

Next idea: God Usopp is foreshadowing that joyboys name was actually God.

I do think the point of God Usopp was to show how easy it is for someone to get the label in the One Piece world, how things aren't really what they seem.

Hey, someone mentioned me! Neat!

Ironically, despite naming myself "Oykot's Treasure", I honestly don't have a firm theory for what's going on with Nami, I'm sorry to say. But, I do think SOMETHING is going on with Nami, and she'll probably get some sort of backstory reveal at some point in the story. I'm just not sure what.

Personally, I'm not sure if Nami has ties to Birka or not.

We've seen Nami's back numerous times. She enjoys her baths, and we all enjoy seeing her enjoy her baths. She doesn't seem to have any scars on her back from where wings would have been removed. But, Moon-Birkans don't necessarily have wings, so maybe she could have ties to the Moon. But, she's probably not related to Sky-Birkans or Enel, specifically.

And, thematically speaking, it kind of would make sense for Nami to have some sort of tie to the Moon. Nami's dream is to make a map of the world. What better place to make a map of the entire world than high up on the Moon so that you can see everything?

But, I doubt that Nami is Joyboy's daughter. She's....just not goofy enough to be related to him directly. Plus, if Joyboy was anything like Luffy is, I don't know if he'd have any interest in that kind of "romance". I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Joyboy never had any kids.

I do think it's likely that the Oykot Kingdom likely has some sort of tie to Uranos, though. And if Oykot has ties to Uranos, then it's not impossible that the kingdom has ties to the Moon or Birkans, in general.

We don't know anything about the Oykot War or what it was about. And we also don't know how the Government got their hands on Uranos in the first place. Personally, I think it's pretty likely that Oykot is where the Ancient Weapon Uranos was originally hidden. Then some pirates found it and tried to steal it, then the World Government found out about it. Then took Uranos for themselves and wiped out the Kingdom to hide their tracks and get rid of anyone who knew anything about the weapon. Most likely.

I could see Nami being revealed to be the "Commander" of Uranos. In the same way that Shirahoshi is the commander of Poseidon, and Momo is the commander of Pluton (probably). I could even see Nami being revealed to be the secret princess of Oykot or something along those lines. These "commander" powers do seem to be passed down through royal bloodlines, after all.

And, I do wonder if Nami has some sort of tie to the other "Treasure Chest Babies" that we've seen in the story? If Nami did spend some time inside of a treasure chest, that would kind of explain her love for gold and money, in a kind of dark way. No one ever said Nami was inside a Treasure Chest when she was a baby, but it would be pretty easy to retcon that she was, but some pirates just dumped her out and took her gold.

Shanks and Uta were both found in treasure chests, too. (I know Uta isn't totally canon, but it still works with the pattern.). And all three of the potential "Treaure Chest Babies" have various shades of Red Hair. I don't know, it feels like there's probably a connection between all three, somehow? I'm just not sure what. It just feels like too much of a coincidence that all three potential "Treasure Chest Babies" that we know about have similar colored hair.

Maybe Toki or someone similar sent them all through time? But, it feels weird that they just sent the babies alone, without anyone with them to protect or raise them. Maybe Joyboy had some way of predicting the future so they knew they'd end up okay. I mean, past generations did seem to set things up in a way that they knew history would repeat itself, somehow.

But, it's all very odd. Maybe the "Treasure Chest Babies" are just various, unrelated people trying to save their children using the same method and that's that. But, maybe something else is going on here. I'm just not sure what.

And Norse and Scandinavian people are known for having red hair. So, maybe Nami does have some connection to the Norse-inspired land of Elbaf? I can't say it's impossible. Especially since Shanks of the Red Hair Pirates set up shop there as his home base. This does seem to be setting up some sort of reveal about Red Haired people....somehow. Maybe.

Although, it's possible that Nami's origin is a little darker than most might expect.

There's a somewhat interesting line in Nami's flashback WAY back in chapter 77. "But I thought Bellemere found me under a bridge" Now, this might not sound like anything important...but it actually might be a dark joke of sorts.

Japan has a history of something called "human pillars" or Hitobashira. It's when you bury a still-living human under a building, or a bridge in this case, in order to get a blessing from the gods.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitobashira

Now, usually there's TWO living human sacrifices for bridge, usually one on each side. So...it's possible Nami has a "sister" or "brother" of sorts who did NOT get saved. (Or...maybe "Shank's Hot Sister" has been right in front of us all along...in a weird Superman/Supergirl time dilation sort of way)

Which brings us to the second part of this idea...Hashihime the bridge princess.

https://hyakumonogatari.com/2013/05/01/hashihime-the-bridge-princess/

This is a vengeful yokai who controls storms and the sea. Kind of like how Nami manipulates the weather? And it's a yokai that's a "spirit" of a bridge, who usually comes in pairs. The articles I can find don't necessarily connect Hashihime WITH the act of Hitobashira...but I can't help but see some seemingly obvious connections. I can't help but think Japan, at one point, "deified" the people they sacrificed to bless their bridges. It'd be FINE that they're buried alive, since they'd be "reborn" as a powerful spirit.

Plus, there's Nami's name. Nami means "wave" in Japanese. Like how Tsunami means "harbor wave". Nami has some possible deeper connection to the sea.

It's possible someone was "sacrificing" Nami as a baby for something...which unwittingly made her more powerful. Even if the rest of Bellemere's original story to lil' Nami wasn't true. Lies tend to come true in One Piece, after all, just look at Usopp.

There's also some potential parallels between Nami and Sun Wukong/Monkey King from Journey to the West. With her having a staff as a weapon and a cloud under her command. There does seem to be some vague connections between the two. But, I really don't see that leading anywhere, myself.

I don't know, just something to think about. Frankly, we're kind of missing too many pieces of the puzzle to really say anything definitive.
