The most shocking thing would be that he revealed that Joyboy was the first pirate and fought the WG, but even during that part, Vegapunk refuses to paint any side as evil and tries to paint them both as fighting for their own ideals, and the common view of pirates among civilians in the OP world is that they're all evil, so naturally people are probably going to assume Joyboy was the bad one. So you're still right, Vegapunk's message had nothing that actually made the WG look bad, and them doing this over the top arrival just to get nerfed by 800 year old rope haki feels completely pointless. Most of the message doesn't make the WG look bad and the most nerve wracking thing it was do "THE ONE PIECE IS REAL" again but with way less impact than Whitebeard.
The world in general in OP didn't know Roger was known as Gol D Roger. Or that the first pirate in history was called Joyboy. Or that the world will sink, like it sunk in the past by the ancient weapons.

We will see what effects this will have down the line, maybe more countries will rebel and join the revolutionary army? Idk.

Still insane how Oda fucked up the final portion of such a great arc again.
Now just give us updated bounties, Kizaru's thoughts on his decisions going after Vegapunk and Sentomaru + another still silhouetted Imu rage moment so we can move on to Elbaf.

Most people don't even know or care what the D. means outside the government, and the only reactions we got out of that were a few diseased prisoners in Impel Down. The thing that made people react the most was that the world was sinking and that the One Piece is real. The first made them react because they're going to have to start moving plans and the second is only relevant to pirates who want an excuse to go around causing trouble.

Personally, I still think we're going to get at least one more Egghead wrap-up chapter. If only because we still have a few last details to fill in. Maybe the "villain side" of post-Egghead, in order to contrast the hope the heroes now have?

I would like to see what Saturn's up to on Egghead now that everyone else is gone.

And...I know I keep harping on this...but we still don't know who took out the cameras or gave Luffy the food on Egghead. Either Oda forgot, and he might answer it in a SBS. Or, there's another twist coming with some other character...Or I just missed something that explains it. Which is possible.

He's been using the SBS way too often lately. If he didn't waste so many pages on pointless minor characters who don't help to advance the plot or Oden dancing, Wano could've given us more details about why Chopper failed to cure smile fruit victims (despite curing all ailments being part of his dream) and more info on Zoro's ancestors, how they migrated to East Blue and how his parents died, instead of simply leaving it all for the SBS.

The insane plot twist Joyboy and Mihawk are actually the haki masters and have more in common:crazwhat:

I always thought it was weird that Shanks was knocking his own crewmates out in Wano when I'm sure Fishman Island Luffy was already able to control his COC but I assumed Oda might have forgotten how it worked.
But now we got Joyboy delayed stored haki that was potent out to knock out the VAs while sparing those weren't hostile to Emeth, this makes Shanks haki control looks like shit.
Like it's all strenght and not finesse

I would say post-timeskip or even marineford/sabaody was the beginning of the decline, but even then you could just handwave the stupid or badly written stuff because they simply felt like a few dirty pebbles falling into a still mostly clean pond. Since Wano or maybe the second half of WCI (@Buusatan94 once wrote a pretty good breakdown of how Whole Cake went wrong), its like Oda has just been making more and more dumb decisions or creating plotlines that don't lead to anywhere, and it was around Wano when he started adopting the subverting expectations mentality that's killing some western entertainment. He went from throwing dirty pebbles to chucking garbage in the pond.

Was it his involvement with Netflix? Was it heavier mandates from JUMP/Toei? Has he simply grown distant from One Piece because he could no longer make the other manga stories he wanted to make? Or can it all simply be chalked up to the new editors for being Oda fanboys who are too young and unwilling to reign him in when he comes up with dumb ideas?
Even though Gear 5 takes the seriousness out of the fights and ends the tension by making Yonkou Luffy too strong, in Wano and against Gear 5, the fact that Kaidou still beat him up was satisfying and enough for me. However, here in EG we didn't have any of that. Luffy was literally strolling through the entire arc while humiliating a Gorosei, an admiral, Rob Lucci, without facing any consequences. Time and again, Kaidou made Luffy pay, but here Luffy didn’t pay for anything.

One of the bigger problems for me is how easy it is for Luffy to activate Gear 5. I thought it was going be like something he can only use when near-death and saving it for really deadly situations. Instead he can just transform into it super easy and uses it against everybody/ The old man drawback is also mute since all he needs to do is shove his mouth full of food and Nika is ready to go again. He only relied on Gear 4 for a little bit against Kizaru before switching to Gear 5 so it looks like Oda wants to make this the default. . .
