According to Sengoku, all Rocks Pirates hated Xebec. So I don't think Kaido used to like him. I think Xebec just influenced him to be evil. Maybe Kaido tried to be a good person during the Rocks time, but Xebec smashed his convictions and his morals

I would have liked it for Xebec and Kaido's relationship to be a subversion or at least something more complex, with the two having a twisted relation but caring for each other in their own way, and Xebec having instilled his values about strength and knowledge to Kaido and Kaido still respecting Xebec to this day.

Even this chapter it imply that Kizaru was not soft or to doubt his ability cause he get the job done.
Still at this point what is even going all out .
Would Kizaru going all out stop him from getting turn into pizza or mean VP would get kill faster .
