I don't think he'll have a major role in the story at this point or anything, but you're lying to yourself if you think this is the last time we'll be seeing him.
What’s the point in bringing him back? Just keep him dead. The series has a bloated enough cast already, and Shanks actually killing Kid would be good development for Shanks’s character
Lidd is out of the game. Even if he survived physically, his ass is irrelevant and the rivalry between him and Luffy is dead. He might as well return as a different character doesn't change the fact that he is an L character and that people who still put hopes in him are delusional.
