Though I am not quite sure why Saturn was sacrificed for failing, after all, all the elders participated, though certainly Saturn was in charge. But as people pointed out, the elders are easily expendable if Imu can just dispose of an elder who was around for many decades.

Why would they worry about angering kaido if they were stronger?

I dont think any Gorosei is stronger than like Kaidou, Mihawk, Shanks, Dragon etc,.

Once we see characters get past their Regen Gimmick, they are not gonna look as dangerous anymore.

I think IMU PTSD from Joyboy haki is the cause of Saturn demise

I dont think the speech was what caused Saturn death. Imu being on the floor and triggered by Joyboy haki likely enraged him and he killed Saturn
