Horrible decision by Oda. Saturn is connected to Robin, Bonney and Kuma, all people the SHs are close to.

It’s also pretty shitty to replace the fleshed out character, keep the 5 who seem copy-pasted versions of Saturn, so soon after showing him. Imagine if Fujitora got fired and replaced after Dressrosa

Oda hasn't been doing anything right with the antagonists since Dressrosa.

I understand your point, but I don't believe they could've fooled the other Gorosei and Imu with that disguise anyway, even if Saturn were still alive. It'll be used to infiltrate Mary Geoise and bypass the basic security forces/marines until they reach the throne room.

This is better now since it eliminates the possibility of facing with the real Saturn exposing their disguise, thats what happened to Bon Kurei when Magellan arrived to control room.

That's true. It's a catch 22. He could have been used the way it went down, or, given that he's the only Gorosei with an established villain arc needing a payoff, he could have faced Luffy in a true fight. Imo, the latter was more fitting from a narrative and thematic perspective.

I feel bad for Saturn and the gorosei agenda, he left the elders with underwhelming feats in egghead and now Saturn is unable to get redemption.

I guess the full extent of a gorosei is to take as many punches to the face as possible and that’s it.
