It’s mostly wishful thinking, or just adoring Ulti for her design and personality. There is a low track record of villains joining Strawhats.

Robin would be a good example. She saved Luffy for her own reasons after he lost his first fight with Crocodile. You could say it was sympathy or her seeing Luffy as the key to Croco’s downfall. Now you could say that she did get rough with Pell and Igaram, but she was honestly going easy on them and staying “loyal” to Croc to avoid being caught. Now her joining the ship was the nail in the coffin since she felt thankful for Luffy saving her from the collapsing tomb.

Franky is another complicated example. He stole money from the Strawhats just to take a trip, let his Franky Family party, and give it to his favorite bar. Fought with Luffy publically to defend his “finders keepers” policy despite also causing a ruckus in front of Galley-La (collateral damage galore). It wasn’t until he got defeated and arrested by Cipher Pol that the Strawhats held a truce with the Franky Family to get him back from Enies Lobby. And it was after Franky escaped with Coup De Boo that Luffy would entrust him to keep Robin safe before him and his crew would make it to them. Franky decided to repay the favor by building the Sunny as a final thank you gift and end his shipright career, until Robin along with Luffy would play the “pants down” gig to try getting him to join the crew and not let his dream die.

What exactly is making people think Ulti will join? This is the first I'm hearing of it.

It tickles my stomach when I saw this fandom is really digging to someone with cool design and wanting them to join the straw hats.
If Monet with her harpy design is destined to die, why someone who wears covid mask would join the crew?

Ulti isn't going to join and I don't think anyone is seriously suggesting it.

Though if Yamato had her design and personality I'd be 100% beside her as crewmate, instead of the ambivalence I have now.

Jinbe reset the timer so you have to wait another 10, or whatever it was, years. Anyway if by some kind of miracle there is another SH joining in Wano that seems it would be Yamato. Ulti is interesting but there is no real linking, at best she could become another Perona, she has a unique personality and looks but will not join. Yet this is a good point to finally put to rest Carrot for nakama (also she somewhat overlaps with Chopper like our local Chopper jihadist fan keeps pointing out).

And thats put a high possibility on her joining the big fleet.

Interesting that ever since we entered the grand line, all the crew members that joined from then on came from backgrounds with links to their occupation. Same applies to Carrot if her position is the scout/lookout.

Chopper - Drum Kingdom, a kingdom of medicine, known to have many of the greatest doctors on the grand line
Robin - Ohara, home of the tree of knowledge and a hub for scholars and archeologists
Franky - Water 7, Home of the world's best shipwright centre
Brook- Rumbar Pirates, a unique pirate band of musicians
Jinbe - Fishman Island, located at the bottom of the sea, a race with the qualities of different types fish, good knowledge of currents etc.
Carrot - Zou, located high up above the clouds, a race with animal instincts, animal-like stealth, involves looking up at the moon to transform into their true form

She doesn't need to do shit. Let the Wano people deal with Wano problems. Yamato is the daughter of their 20 year old invader. It's good to forgive if she has helped Kaidou in the past conquer Wano somehow but the Oden happened but it's not her job.

secondly oden will is limited to wano arc (opening wano country to the world ) his will has nothing to do outside wano or travailing around the world .
so there's no point of that as fact to join SH and travel around the world .

While I'm not really digging into her joining the crew, I wonder why such a big/memorable moment like joining the official straw hats is done off-screened? If she has to join the crew she has to do it right after Wano arc. Unless Oda make her taking Vivi's route to become an ally.
