Speculations Crocus Cover Story & The Mysterious Person.

#1
I was just scrolling through YouTube out of boredom and got a Video recommended to me which I wanted to share here. I've never seen this YouTuber before, but what he came up with positively surprised me. It was very creative.

His whole video is about speculating who the Man waiting on the shores of Elbaf could be. I don't want to take away too much from his video, so I'll just leave it at this panel that he also mentioned, as a little teaser.

This is from Chaprer 929

Right at the bottom you can see the same looking hat hanging on the wall which seems like it has a wig attached to it, in the colored Version it is also blonde.

Now, when I first heard this in the Video, I was immediately like, No, come on, Oda ! Don't ruin this Mysterious Cover Story Person with some random Wano Kuni character. But then he goes further and mentions why it still could be anyone, even Scopper Gaban, despite the coloring. It's a wig, after all. I don't know why I didn't catch on to that immediately during my first watch.

:kawak::denzimote:

Anyway, this is just one cool detail this Guy found. What he explains later on is even more interesting; he goes into detail about why he thinks this man-marked flame could refer to a "Group" of people instead of just one person and dives more into it with Japanese translations and much more !

Overall, a really refreshing Video.

Feel free to share your thoughts after you find time to watch it. Here is this Guy's Video. It is Only 13 Minutes long. Keep in mind that nothing he says is set in stone, it's all just theorizing, but that's the fun part of it, especially during break weeks.

Here's the colored version of the Franky panel.

Thanks for adding that. No doubt, to me. It is the same thing, this Cover Story Person must be wearing.

Very interesting. So, a person who has ties to Wano Kuni, Elbaf, Shanks and Crocus. A former Roger Pirate becomes more and more likely. Although it could still turn out to be anyone, Oda really left us with a good one to figure out this time.

Very good video

I had some thought on this as well, but I'm a self thought (not very good) japanese speaker, but I also interpreted it referring to a different person couple days ago:

Maybe? Doesnt make sense to me:
So let's assume Roger and his crew, or Shanks very early on, visited Little Garden (as otherwise "old" probably doesn't make sense)

We see Shanks during the East Blue Saga in East Blue, that means he was easyl able to check on them going through rivers mountain as its very close to Little garden.

This is also about the same time the Strawhats Pirate meet the Giants. And they don't receive any news about them for almost 3 years yet not one of them thought they were dead

And Mr. 3 told us no one heard about broggy and dorry since they started their duel 100 years ago. So there was no world news concerning them being dead in any semi-recent times.

Also, we know from Oimo and Kashi that the giants pirate dissolved after they left Dorry and Broggy behind on little garden, so their location never changes.

Shanks seems to allied with Elbaf of giants, so even if he would go there and ask, they would refer them to Little garden

I personally don't see how Shanks logically ever thought they were dead

Yes, that's a fantastic question. Who did Shanks refer to here? Ever since people brought up this Shanks panel with brogy and dory, I started to question that as well.

In sabaody for example, Rayleigh remembered how Shanks came to him 10 Years ago and told him about Luffy. Later in that scene, Rayleigh gets surprised to know that the straw hats met Crocus, and he was happy that he was still well.

Why Didn't Shanks tell Rayleigh about Crocus being still alive? Certainly, he must have crossed riverse mountain and seen him. Unless he never met Crocus in all these years after their Crew disbanded, this is so weird to me that Characters of their caliber don't know what their former Crew mates are up to or even if they are still alive.

Rayleigh explains that he has no clue what his former comrades he risked his life with are doing nowadays (or if they are even alive)

Considering these things, It doesn't look too farfetched, that Shanks could have meant Dory and Broggy. But, Man, the former Roger Pirates really had a poor Information Network compared to other crews nowadays. I mean, they didn't even have each other's Vivre Cards to check up on one another? To help out if someone's in danger, they still have bounties after all, I assume.

Of course, it's still possible that Shanks meant this silhouetted guy at the end of Chapter 1124. "A former" Roger Pirate? As you said.

Minatomo is missing according to the latest cover story...
Very interesting what Oda is planning here. Let's see if this has any connections to Crocus Cover Story, and the man waiting in Elbaf. This hat thingy, with the wig attached to it, was in the Room with Minamoto and Franky after all. I love this Mystery that Oda is building up right now.

:sus::hope:

Imagine it was just Minamoto all this time, people would be so disappointed with their wish for Scopper or other characters. But that remains to be seen. There are many possibilities right now.

Minamoto is a tiny fellow, isn't he?

True, It wouldn't fit the silhouette of elbaf nor the man in the cover story, would it? The Land of Wano is vast, and I doubt that that's the only similar looking hat. There are probably several out there that people are wearing from Wano.

Then again, Oda and his height game wasn't always on point. Next weeks Cover Story hopefully solves this.

Right, but this exact hat with that blonde hair attached to it is only seen in the room with Minamoto, and in the cover story with crocus, that's what throws me off right now. Well, the Guy from crocus cover and the man waiting in elbaf could also be unrelated, but the silhouette fits that attire as well.

:kawak:

Oda is playing Mind Games with us. He had to bring up Minamoto in the current Cover Story...

:denzimote::catcry:

For now, I am still at 50/50 between Shiki and Scopper though.
