I am asking this out of sheer curiosity and it has nothing to do with my opinions on abortion.
You say that it's her body and her choice. You also believe that she should be able to kill whatever is inside her (baby for pro life, foetus for pro abortion) right up until whatever your cutoff point is, for some people it's until conception, for others it's as low as 23 weeks.
In fact some people go as far as to say 'parasites have no rights', so as long as it inside the woman it should have no rights.
So the question is this:
If someone attacked a pregnant woman, or ran her over and causes her to miscarry as a result, BUT the damage to the woman was largely superficial and nothing permanent (other than the miscarriage obviously), should they be tried for murder/manslaughter, or would some other punishment be more appropriate, because 'parasites don't have rights'?
Bear in mind that typical assault charges are just months on average or occasionally a few years.
What the hell is this approval thing? I thought you guys were better than this.
*** Extra edit in case you're hesitant to respond because you think I'm trying to trap you in a debate, here is my current opinion on abortion below. Not interested in debating it either since that's not the point of the topic, I'm only adding this in because people get really precious about challenging them whilst also not stating your position ***

I have no problem with abortion in principle, but until men have the same rights to back out of being a father - both financially and emotionally - I will never vote for a pro abortion law. This stance generally tends to piss off both sides so I see it as a win.
