Okay so we know Blackbeard has claw blades that up until recently was his main weapon
He was good enough with it to the point he was able to scar shanks of all people. He might’ve been a rookie at the time far from his prime but that also applies to Blackbeard. If I remember correctly he’s only a year older being 40 and shanks 39
Oldish theory but Blackbeard and cavendish might be more alike than we think. The potential reason being their blade
What if blackbeard and Cavendish have the same ability?
We know that Cavendish has a weird split personality where everytime he sleeps hakuba takes over. So yeah what if teach is the same way?
What we've been told about blackbeard
- He doesn't sleep
- Able to eat 2 devil fruit
- Scarred shanks even before he ate any devil fruit
- Doesn't sleep because he can't control the other personality, is scared of it, or maybe just because the other personality wants to stay hidden so it doesn't let him sleep
- Maybe due to him having 2 souls hes able to eat 2 fruits somehow
- Or the sisters theory
- With how clumsy and reckless teach is maybe it wasn't normal teach but the other personality
Tho with blackbeard's flag having 3 heads maybe he has a 3rd personality as well. That or when both work together it counts as another head

Crazy and out my ass but what if black blades are forged through a sacrifice. Like something crazy like killing a loved one or suicide. It being similar to zoan awakenings requiring death but still unique
We know Aramaki’s tattoo hints at suicide and death of a loved one. So maybe the sword originally belonged to a girl he really loved whether familial or romantic. Her death being what made the blade black with Aramaki deciding to hold it as a part of her. He can probably use it too but only when pushed to
Mihawk back in his youth definitely went through some big loss with it being tied to the betrayal he felt. Maybe after that lost he learned how black blades are permanently made and decided to try and achieve it. If he wasn’t strong enough he’d just kill himself but if he was he’d be able to overcome death and become one with yoru. If he didn’t try to kill himself what if the person that betrayed him used his own sword and literally stabbed him in the back leaving him to die. With the same effect either way. That maybe explaining his double ringed eyes because he and yoru are 1

This could also imply kuina is secretly alive sabo style since wado isn’t black. Which I wouldn’t mind tbh with her coming back as a man would be interesting imo

Like if the scar on his eye is him deadass accidentally stabbing himself in the face lol. Him dying but surviving and growing stronger in the process. The blade wanting to be a part of zoro like it was ryuma. So it’d be like even tho he gave the sword up to wano it’s still with him in a way

Back to Blackbeard he might’ve been a master blades man comparable to shanks and mihawk back in the day. With the blade being able to take over his body in a similar manner to how hakuba does cavendish
If that ends up being the case he lowkey might not end up getting a zoan tho I wouldn’t mind. With how zoan souls and cursed blade souls lowkey parallel each other in story
At the same time his original name was supposed to be everything d teach so I say just give him everything lol
