Middle East is indeed a fuck up. But the Western States aren't supporting Iran/Hezbollah. And this is why the protests against Israel are bigger. Pro-Netanyahu and whatnot are sick to call anyone who dares to criticize them as antisemitic.

Hamas, as the government of Gaza, is responsible first and foremost for the well-being of Gazans.

I fail to see how Hamas’s “resistance” actually serves that cause.

it seems to me as if they just start wars they cannot win and get their own people killed in the process. It literally benefits nobody but Iran.

Their resistance seems more ideologically motivated than based in practical reality. The rational approach, of course, would be to push for peace with US and Israel and then try to get international recognition as a sovereign state.

But It’s likely that bitterness over the nakba and their numerous losses, and let’s be honest antisemitism as well, all prevent them from doing this. There’s also the issue of Israel’s crimes in the West Bank, but again Hamas’s “resistance” not only helps the West Bank Palestinians, it literally makes their condition worst.

I think the thing with the Middle East is that a lot of the ardent supporters of the Palestinian cause tend to act as if Israel is the only bad actor in the region.

And Israel definitely is to blame for a lot of the bloodshed. But I think Iran and it’s proxies also play a significant role too.

like the current war in Gaza and Lebanon are a direct response to Iran backed terrorist orgs.
Not sniping their children for sport would have probably helped cooling down the situation.

They can't pull the anti-semitism card against a fellow jew.
That said tho

You won’t see Israelis doing shit like defending Hamas or Iran.

Also I think the most liberal you can get with Israelis, as far as Palestine is concerned, is that those on the Israeli left want to give the West Bank back to the Palestinians and create a Palestinian state once Hamas is defeated.

As opposed to the Israeli far right that wants to colonize the West Bank, Gaza, and probably even more.

I'm re-reading the Bible(listening to an audio book actually). Moses was a killer. King David was a killer. Solomon was an asshole. God's love is uncomprehensible imo. I would nuke those guys if i was in charge of the universe. Maybe not Moses...but David and Solomon? YES.

Honestly if it were up to me, I’d have the settlers excommunicated from the Jewish people.

the initial goal of Zionism, in the late 1800s, was to create a homeland for Jews where they could have political autonomy and wouldn’t be discriminated against.

It wasn’t to revive Judaea and Samaria or create some sort of Jewish empire.

If anything could cause the state of Israel to dissolve, I think the West Bank settlements would be it.

I don’t know much about Solomon tbh. But David was an asshole.

I don’t know if you’re being sarcastic or not

Maybe, a lot of Judeo-Christian myths are derivatives of other Mesopotamia civilizations like the Sumerians
They mostly rewrote their ancestral history during the Babylonian exile anyway. It's fascinating and equally frustrating how 2 oceans away there's a group of people of different ethnic origin who base their whole identity and (lack of )understanding of science on these stories.

Ironically in the Middle Ages a lot of monks and Christian philosophers understood this and knew the book of genesis and exodus was mostly allegorical. I think modern day Jews understand this too, only the orthodox are really into the historical Bible stuff
