Therein lies the problem. In egghead, zoro said lunarians were invincible and the seraphs weren't hurt at all. They were just caught in the sea stone bubbles.

So, had king stayed in flame on, even acoc zoro wouldn't have beaten him supposedly. So the only reason king lost was because he got scared of acoc and threw away his only advantage.

And yeah, with an ability like that it comes down to plot there. King can be Invincible even against Mihawk as long as he stays in Flame On, but his overall combat ability isnt close to Mihawk's.

DR doffy aint winning against King. Cause his overall combat ability isn't good enough. He is not fast enough to force king to switch to speed mode. He doesn't have enough ap to scare king into turning the flames off either.
