No, you’re not getting it. As a story, Oda uses bounties to hype characters. To build them up. He is not giving Akainu a contradictory or inflated bounty when the function of said bounty is to make him look scarier and stronger.

Doubly so when this bounty is highlighted as something only Whitebeard and Roger, pirate king level characters, could achieve. It’s special regardless of where it comes from because it represents a height and level to the reader

And in reference to the Yonko, they only said that their combined bounties would exceed Rogers or Whitebeards. Even if they were to get new, higher bounties, that in no way proves they'd be at the 5B mark or above.

Mihawk's entire portrayal is leeching off everything Shanks does.
I think that's a bummer, since's he's a cool character, but it is what it is.
Marineford didn't do him any favors. And Cross Guild is just Oda's roundabout way ot shoehorning him into the story so his fight against Zoro isn't some lame sidequest and can actually be part of the narrative.


Mihawkbros should unironically wank Shanks harder than Shanks fans since they depend on him to get indirect portrayal.

The 'strongest character' title but the last relevant thing done was almost a decade ago . it doesnt register with anyone who isnt a fan of his because for 1200+ chapters you are largely irrelevant, become relevant when you are about to get beat and you are done with .

I used to be interested in Kong but he's a massively overhyped bum with zero aura. Maybe he was legit in his prime but for now he's definitely below Prime Garp/Sengoku

It's been 15 years since Mihawk was drawn doing anything. Oda does not care for this character much and I don't know why he'd make such an irrelevant character stronger than his favorite character lol. Especially when he made sure to make their duels ambiguous.
