Exactly.
He's a horny trolling evasive bait loving egotistical man-child.
He hates people predicting his story and will change it if they do (exposes his multiple plagiarisms) so he keeps throwing out breadcrumbs as a distraction and trying to change the topic or run away.
Given how much be loves to milk the story despite promising for over a decade that it's near the end/5 years or now 3 years left, he keeps adding tons of new characters, mysteries, fillers, distractions etc.
We won't get any real answers until the story is over and even then it will probably be in SBS/vivre cards/novels etc mostly at this point.
I've had 20 plus years of "being patient", 27 freaking years long this story is too. The longest running story in shonen jump and thus manga is 40 years old (kochikame IIRC). I'm certain Oda's ego won't let him stop until he surpasses that and has the longest and biggest PP I mean OP manga in the end.
Ironically jojo is still going 40 years after it started and so is the Dragonball series, but unfortunately we lost Toriyama now ofc so the series can never truly be finished and thus end anymore either. Not on his terms, by his hand especially ofc.
But yeah if Oda ends OP in the next few years, he will be outlasted by Jojo which started it's NINTH part this year or last year maybe and part 8 took 10 years to finish with its monthly schedule and has a r7dhed, forced ending too
Part 9 will probably be another 6-7 years minimum (that's only 66--77 chapters at most as Araki takes a break once a year at best) so probably more than 6-7 years too actually? 8-9 years minimum? Idk. Depends how concise the story is, part 8 had tons of issues with pacing and part 7 did too.
It would be hilarious if one piece ends whilst jojo is still going and we're just 4 balls deep in jojolands/part 9 still lmao.
BUT also bleach has yet to return and have its story truly finished. Kubo has 10 years of material left unused which he wanted for the final arc and beyond, some of it is being used in the TYBW anime and how its expanding and maybe even diverting from canon apparently (I heard it might not follow the mangas ending) and kubo said apparently he won't resume Bleach and thus do the immensely hyped and decades long awaited hell arc unless it's entirely on his terms and no editors breathing down his neck too.
Imagine if bleach came back but one piece was ending or had ended? Ultimate karmic, poetic irony? One Piece fans bullied and trolled bleach fans for over a decade amd still do, especially once bleach got axed and also when kubo needed that 6 week hiatus when he tore his tendons too.
Much like Kidd slander, us Bleach fans will get the most cathartic, vengeful laugh in the end. The phoenix will rise again.
Already experiencing it with admiral slander especially kizaru atm ofc!

The way things are going, It'll be fun a few years from now to see someone reach Wano and see Kaido's power and have someone tell them "Kaido isn't even in the top 10 alive" 
and we still have Dragon bounty + Shanks might get a last boost now that he's on the move
Akainu definitely will regardless. I doubt luffy won't face green bull at some point too but not in an all out fight either.
Admirals are still alive and will still be relevant by the end, they're only gonna get more important whether you or anybody likes it or not.
Oda is keeping them alive for a reason.
Imu is far more duller and expendable, shittiest villain I've ever seen by far.
I have a lot of hope and hype for Teach though and much rather he's the final villain regardless too.

Do we know how much time passed when the flashback happened? I'm not entirely sure how much time had passed only that the flashback felt like forever
Goofy was tired and not paying attention to whoever was giving him food
That fight overall wasn't very good indicator of their strengths imo. Kizaru kept running while Goofy kept chasing. When Goofy caught him he was punting him across the island. All things considered they seemed more or less evenly matched though I do think Kizaru can outlast G5
