Oda is not so strict with shonen rules...if he was, G5 wouldn't have come in wano but maybe after elbaf or in elbaf....Kaido was a top 1 character, Luffy ain't.... so except Imu and Akainu (if retconned), none can be stronger than Kaido....

What makes you think he isn't so strict with Shonen rules? Naruto got his KCM before the war arc. Nothing says Luffy won't get PUs anymore.

One Piece doesnt always follow that formula also we dont know if hes the main villain of the arc.

Yeah, it's totally cohesive. Luffy smiles and laughs while fighting Kaidou who beat up a bunch of his friends, and threatens to enslave/kill his entire crew and the nation. He's rolling on the floor laughing while Vegapunk gets skewered and then runs away like a bitch while not caring where the rest of his crew is or even the fact that Vegapunk is dead. He lets himself and Zoro get beat up and spit on, and them and Nami get sorely humiliated, and does nothing.

But when defenseless and chained-up Loki says, "Shanks gay lol," he loses his cool and uses G4 to threaten him.

I really dislike the argument of Oda just wanting to copy/paste mythology. It's lazy, and also doesn't excuse damaging your own story's character for it. I don't think it's worth it.

If he wants to go that route, why not have Loki say something actually biting? Is Oda really so terrible at writing he could think of nothing better than, "Shanks is a pussy"? It's sad.

so you didnt pay attention to the parts about how zoans influence your personality/zoan awakening is matching body + mind with the devil fruit? luffy's personality changes in gear 5. whether this is good or bad? who knows yet.

Luffy isn't getting any powerups, nor does he need anything. He just needs to refine his tools. He has all advanced haki forms and unlocked the devil fruit. He just needs to master them and use them effectively. G4 could have been resolved in Wano, but Oda's IQ is not good enough when it comes to battles for most of the post-TS.

Yes luffy laugh and smile causes enjoying the fight don't mean he not going kick kaido ass for everyone.
He was angry in that fight also be Oda not going draw luffy angry in all the panels.
Name one fight where we did not see luffy smiling or have some fun while in a fight .
Also we seen time and time again that luffy feel that his crew can take care of there self .
So why are you saying he was running away with out caring what happen to his Crew,
In wano kaido ask him about it and his own words was i got deal with you and everyone else can take care of things down there.
Also he did not even know VP was dead until everything was over .

How so? OP is one of the OG shonen manga, these shonen formulas were influenced by mangas like OP in the first place.

Yeah, I get that but Loki has a legitimate shot at being Elbaf's main villain - a huge arc. It's different to Egghead Island which was more of an escape arc than WCI.
