Questions & Mysteries So Saint Shanks and Roger are no swordsmen but have named sword attacks?

#81
A character using a sword since childhood that is skilled at using it but isn’t considered a swordsman
Okay?
This isn't Saint Shanks' case. At least not at the moment, since all he uses is a sword.

King was overwhelming zoro in a sword clash and is able to harden his blade. He might not be a swordsman but he’s not completely shit at using it
Okay. Still not relevant to Saint Shanks's case.

Saint Shanks has done 1 attack all series and it wasn’t part of a sword style. We don’t know if Saint Shanks limits himself to only using his sword. We don’t know if he mixes in punches and kicks. A single punch from king has zoro calling him out as not a swordsman
You don't need to shout out "1/2/3 sword style" to be a swordsman. Like Brook, for example.
I agree that we don't know Saint Shanks full set but everything Manga has given us so far is enough to consider him as a swordsman. At least for now.

? I didn’t say that…
All I said was again x5 is using a sword =/= being a swordsman. Saint Shanks can be strong with a sword and still not be a swordsman
?
There is a difference between using sword and only using sword.
In fact, it's the only canonical reason in the entire Manga for someone to deem someone else not a swordsman.

You say that as a fact when it isn’t. It’s speculation on both sides. With there being precedent for character skilled at using swords still not being considered swordsmen king being the most in your face example

True you don’t have to. You can even be completely shit at using a sword and still be considered a swordsman as long as you refer to yourself as one like cabaji. King being on the opposite end of that
Saint Shanks we don’t know but if he or anyone with a sword refers to themselves as a swordsman no matter how ass that means they are. We don’t know if Saint Shanks does or not. We do know he doesn’t have a sword style tho like zoro, hyogoro, cavendish, etc

And even that doesn’t mean much when we haven’t seen Saint Shanks really fight lol

Yes I say this as a fact because at the moment it is....
I've even emphasized it a couple times

At least not at the moment, since all he uses is a sword.

This shows that I accept the possibility that Saint Shanks might actually do something that would exclude him from being swordsman but at this point I have no reason to think he's not

When you don’t know something for a fact it’s called speculation. Especially when you realize there’s a chance it could go either way as of now

but comparing her arsenal to Saint Shanks/Roger is wrong
How is it wrong? It shows clearly that even non-swordsmen are able to use swordtechniques. The same can be the case for Roger and Saint Shanks.
Its an absolute fair and valid point.

We have not seen anything that would contradict Saint Shanks and Roger being swordsmen. Which is why I assume that both are.

Bro you are contradicting yourself, I don't even know what I am arguing

There is no contradiction. You simply misunderstand.

Non-swordsmen can use swordtechniques (BM using Ikoku).
You can not judge whether or not someone is a swordsmen by the use of a single technique (Divine Depüarture).
Saint Shanks and Roger have not shown any attacks other than swordtechniques so far, making it highly unlikely that both are anything else than swordsmen.
