Character Discussion Sengoku & Sakazuki - A Comparison Between The Two Fleet Admirals

Sengoku is shown to be smarter, kept the marines stable and under control. Whitebeard praised him for being cunning and Akainu coming to him for advice when he was under pressure says a lot.

Whereas with Akainu as fleet admiral started to crumble as soon as he took the role. They lost Kuzan, Swords formed their own under Garb and Smoker, had a falling out with Fujitora and Kizaru, made the Gorosei come out along with multiple vice admirals dying, Yonkos going wild and RA making advances by the day.

There’s some truth when they say psychopath are only suited for leadership roles so that explains Sengoku’s 3 decades of success. Akainu is emotional, highly temperamental and erratic thay caused the marines to go into decline.

Sword existed before Akainu became feet admiral(Kuzan knows about it) and Garp and Smoker aren´t members

You cant compare Sengoku when he was FA and Akainu when he was Admiral.

You either compare them as FA both or Admirals.

Since they have different responsibilities according to their position.

Narratively speaking (ik it's hard for Onepiss fans to understand narrative which is why they think this story is good:gokulaugh:), Akainu should be a better leader. Maybe not a better tactician since he's more of a fighter himself than one who'd oversee a war but definitely a better leader overall. The navy is verbatim stated to have gotten stronger under his leadership which is quite literally the only criteria that should matter when judging leadership. Yeah, unity matters but there's no proof that the marines have gotten less united, in fact since Akainu is more extreme, the navy should only get more united.

Anyways, as I was saying, why should Akainu narratively be a better leader? Well simply put, every generation surpasses the generation that preceded it and the targets of the new gen will be the middle gen since middle gen has the control of the status quo right now and will all be the important fighters in the final war. Not. The. Washed. Old. Gen. They're done with the story, they only exist to tell the history and give context to why the OP world is at is it.

Roger/Whitebeard have been surpassed by Shanks/Mihawk who will be surpassed by Luffy/Zoro. The same way Garp/Sengoku have been surpassed by Akainu who will eventually be surpassed by Koby.

SIMPLE NARRATIVE.

Old gen > Mid gen for most part

Roger/WB > Kaido/BM/Shanks

iirc the Marines were said to be stronger than before under Akainu. Also, Akainu faces substantially more challenges than Sengoku did with the new gen, worst generation and revolutionaries. Two Yonkos falling, Vegapunk's message to the world, Joyboy's return, the Shichibukai abandoned and Saturn dead. As Garling said, the world is in huge turmoil.
