Spoiler One Piece Chapter 1134 Spoilers Discussion

A betrayal to the fandom is irrelevant though lol, there are figures in many stories that betray the audience, its literally their point of character.

Yes, Shanks has been altruistic 99% of his appearances, but the key point about Chapter 907 is the fact that he (at the time when not assuming he had a twin) did something shocking to betray the reader. Its why so many people were in denial about his behavior anyway at that point.

This also doesnt really change the fact that he still reacts oddly to Luffy in 903 and deciding to go after One Piece in 1054. It also doesnt change his brutal nature (which yes, is justified) to Kid and Bartolomeo. The pure fact the latter was attacked, at least shows Shanks' crew isnt afraid of attacking Luffy and his fleet. These things still stand even if Shanks has a twin God Knight brother.
The chapter 903 scene always looked more like pride than anything to me. You may have read it as odd, but it really didn’t look it to me and a lot of people.

Chapter 1054 will be explained in time. Kid scene doesn’t need to be explained, Kid was about to commit mass murderer against Shanks’ friends that Shanks swore to protect after giving Kids crew a chance to surrender. All Shanks did was stop him. And the barto scene will be explained, no way did Shanks purposefully try to kill Bartolomeo and his crew after being so happy that Luffys subordinates were so loyal.

It was just bait and shanks is exactly who he always was shown as.

RayanOO

Lazy is the way
I can reassure myself with one thing

either it be BB or Shanks I think (and hope) Oda thought about their characters and stories quote in advance and planned for them
Like Luffy and Joyboy/Dawn etc I think Shanks was one of the only characters planned for quite a long time

How is this good, what's the reasoning here?:saden:

Fuckin hate this dude:suresure:

Its clearly artistic intent for Oda to do things like this with Shanks and ultimately it end up being pretty pointless in the end because he just had to make a twin lmao.

Like, then he just shouldnt draw Shanks in this way to begin with, its silly if theres literally no reason for it.

If Shanks was morally complex and betrayed the reader and Luffy? Then no it would have been a fight to the death because Shanks isnt all good.

Thats exactly the disappointment. Oda played with the idea by showing "him" with the Gorosei and making the reader think about it.

NOW it wouldnt be a real fight, but it absolutely could have been one.
In that context, yes it could have been a real fight.. It's hard to buy, not because of this chapter, even before but i'm ready for any twists..

Lmao valid. But in the end, you just have to ask, will Oda betray his golden boy and make him a villain? No. Nor does a big battle royal fit odas writing style. He does one v ones and this way Oda gets his cake and eats it too.

They didnt because they've been kept mysterious for waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long in this story lol.

Now with this twin shit it absolutely feels like there isnt that much depth there.
It will solved by some top character from marines or pirates or whatever saying "I knew there was something he was hiding" Or ben saying "So he finally decided to show this" etcc..

Thats the essense Ive at least been trying to paint. That with Chapter 907 and other instances where Oda draws shanks "weird" that we were gearing up for a twist on him. That he can be "good" and protect the weak and innocent, but also have plans for Luffy that betray the essense of his character to him so Shanks can get one piece and achieve his ideal version of peace, whatever it is.

Not everything needs to be squeaky clean and given what we had I thought this would have been decently unique for a Shonen to do this, but here we are lol.

If this is an evil twin/clone/whatever, then Shanks to me is as simple as he's always been with a Figarling twist
