Which is still the most "brutal" and "consequential" stuff that has happened in over 1130 chapters (outside of Ace and WB dying).

That's actually hilarious and sad at the same time if you think about it.
If you ignore all the fodders and Side Characters Like the Island destroyed by the world gouverment or vivis father

We just came from wano that had people dying for decades etc etc was nothing light hearted about it,
Egghead had a back story about slavery and rape spell out nothing light hearted about that either and i can name many more eg during the time skip .
Hell if you want to talk about something being "brutal" and "consequential" Saturn dying pave the way for garling who will play a big part later on.

He doesn't want to disappoint/traumatize kids reading the manga as his still target audience are still kids and young teens (despite over 90% of the current audience being adults).

That's the disappointing part with Oda - his early work (pre skip) was great, but he failed to let his manga mature alongside his audience.

Post skip is basically just pre skip 2.0 with some minor twists that most Oda fart sniffers try to sell as "brilliant two sides of the same coin writing".

The only new creative touches are his admittedly great ideas for locations and their design.

In the end you get what we have now - a lighthearted feel-good story with no real moments of tension/fear and quite a lot of repetitive writing and recycling.

It's not "bad" by any means, but it could've been so much better and many fans that didn't tie their own self-esteem to the manga (and therefore have to glorify anything Oda puts out) are disappointed bc of that.
There are other characters that should have stayed dead, but not Vegapunk when he can clone a fucking army.

People sometimes just be talking out of their ass as if they make a point by using big words lol.

Well put

I'm tired of these lazy ass translations.
same, go read official like me

I'd say it's pretty realistic too

No nation stays the same forever

Elbaf was known as the Warland for hundreds if not thousands of years

The culture was bound to shift eventually
What if their warrior culture was merely a necessity during the war of the void century and then it stuck?

VP is the one character that can fully come back as the same person using a clone .
Since they can down everything from punk records back into him like the arc said what is even death to him and rest of the punks .
Lilith making clones of Vegapunk sure is gonna sit well with readers, who's to say people that have died can't be clones anymore lol 👀👀
Maybe it's foreshadowing Shanks's clone?

I laughed hard at how Oda portrays the ”land of vikings” as once ferocious but today feminized, weak and easily upset. Reads as social commentary to me regarding the heritage of some of the scandinavian nations and their current political and cultural states.
It's referencing Europe's transition from this:

to this:

And about ->
feminized
For example, many female skeletons from Viking graves generally had stronger jawlines than modern Scandinavian women, while many men generally had slimmer faces that the Scandinavian men of today.
We can see this more clearly in modern facial reconstructions produced by academics around the world based on skeletal and DNA analysis.

I laughed hard
🤣🤣

Usopp is starting to feel like a character again

🤣🤣

:finally:
Slaves of the higher classes that had a hard time existing and are idolised as being some strong warriors, when they were physically weaker than a lot of people who train today, were better than a strawman of the current modern time lower classes, which is actually how the higher classes at that time were, is that the point?

If that's the point, even in the story itself shows it to be false, Luffy and Coby will be at the peak of strength and Luffy rejects the authority of old and Coby is a hero whose recent attack is named honesty impact,

Edit: Even the strongest character is someone named Joyboy,

He killed his father to save Elbaf :kata:
If the person on the other end of that phone call is Imu then yes he might have

Yo my man here nailed it. The Vegapunk clone is a cheap pull to make sure we got some more lore drop, but I also see that foreshadowing plain and simple. Most likely I think this Vegapunk clone will never see the light of day? Potentially destroyed or just never revived. Wanks and mystery girl may be here to hunt down Lilith.

Not sure about the second part but i wouldn't be surprised if one of the two Shanks's is a clone made by Vegapunk. Remember the germa clone warriors?
