Tama takes out Holdem! Well...this was a LONG build up for a very short payoff. I guess we're wrapping up the Yamato cover story soon? Unless Holdem was only a grunt working for the REAL Wano Kidnapper?
We get confirmation that it is indeed the owl that's causing the books to gigantify. It was the obvious solution, but I'm glad we got it explained to us. I do wonder where these animals are getting these Devil Fruits, though. This feels like it's implying that there's a Devil Fruit tree somewhere on Elbaph. Or that Adam Trees eventually BECOME Devil Fruit Trees, if they age long enough.
And, that's another little detail we get this chapter! There's more than one Adam Tree! It's a species of Tree, not one specific legendary tree. That's interesting information.
One thing that I didn't notice before....one of the Giant kids on the swing has horns, just like Kaido. It looks like they're growing right out of his hair, so it's probably not a helmet. That's probably important to notice for later. I guess "Ancient Giant"/Oar's blood is more common than you might think.
That Elbaph kid grinning like a perv like Momo used to is almost nostalgic, in a way.
Bonney and Lilith are getting their residency permits. So, Elbaph has a bureaucracy. Also, Oda is really hammering home early that they're leaving the Strawhats so that we don't get too attached this time around.
New Elbaph Outfits dropped! I do like Jinbe's dragon belt-buckle. I think this outfit suits him the best, but that's mostly due to his beefy build.
Gerd keeps showing more Road-like tendencies with making these outfits, though. Do you ship it?
The little chibi summary panel of Luffy punching out Charlos is pretty fun. Oda just wanted an excuse to draw that scene again.
Now, let's get to some meatier discussion points!
We get information that the News Coo don't visit Elbaph, so they don't get newspapers, but sometimes Fishmen bring them newspapers, anyway.
So, this is kind of a weird back-and-forth thing that I've been mulling over for a while now. This might not seem important...and it very well could just be Oda doing some world-building and crossing some "t"s and dotting some "i"s. But, this could be a actual plot point.
I don't think we've gotten any confirmation for exactly HOW the Giants learned that Luffy was on Egghead in the first place, have we?
We're lead to believe it was through the newspaper, since we saw Big News Morgans report on Luffy "invading" Egghead when Saturn was reading the paper in chapter 1089, the second day of Egghead. And the Strawhats assume the Giants came due to the newspaper in chapter 1107. But Dorry and Brogy can't seem to READ the newspapers in Chapter 1130, because they're too small. But, then we learned about the Owl Library's gigantification powers in 1134, which would explain how they could read the newspaper. But, now we learn in 1135 that the Giants don't even get the newspaper on a regular schedule.
So, I feel like Oda's doing this on purpose. There's this whole back-and-forth with if the Giants even COULD have actually read about the Strawhats "invading" Egghead on that particular day. It's possible a Fishman brought them the new morning paper that very same day. Or...The Giants found out about Luffy being on Egghead some other way, possibly by Shanks sensing them with his Observation Haki. Or...I'm just WAY, WAY overthinking this! Probably that third one. But, I feel like this is all happening the background for a reason, maybe? We'll see.
Another one of the bigger reveals this chapter is that Ripley is Colon's Mom...and that the father is a human.
Well, that's just PRIME material for baseless speculation, isn't it?
For some reason, my mind went straight to Whitebeard. It'd kind of be nice if Whitebeard was able to have a child of his own, even if he never got to meet him. And it'd kind of be a way to "bring back" Whitebeard, without ACTUALLY bringing back Whitebeard. But, I don't think that's too likely. If only because, Ripley probably would have heard about Whitebeard dying in the last 2 years, somehow. And from Ripley and Colon's expression, I think the Father is likely still alive. So, that also rules out Gol D Roger.
Shanks isn't impossible. It WOULD be weird for Colon to call him "Shanks", instead of "Dad", or something. But, I can't rule out Shanks. Shanks has ties to this island. And Colon has pink hair. And "pink" is a diluted color derivative of "red"...which isn't really much to go on, but it's another link between the two. I don't know, I wouldn't be too shocked if it was Shanks.
It could be The Elbaph Silhouette. Whoever that turns out to be. That'd be the cleanest explanation. Not too exciting, but we'd get a resolution to this little mystery fast that way. This is probably the most likely scenario, if I'm being honest.
It could also be the Grasshopper Motorcycle Guy who greeted the Strawhats in Legoland in Chapter 1128. I feel like he kind of fits Ripley's aesthetic tastes? It'd be a weird reveal, but I could see her being into a biker guy.
Also, the "Bandaged" Gods Knight finally speaks and acts during this chapter! And she seems VERY polite. So...she's probably the person who Loki was talking to on the Transponder Snail last chapter, right? That feels like it's the most likely scenario. Still not sure HOW that came to be. But, I think that's probably what's happening, now.
And while I would kind of like her to be Imu....I don't think it's likely that this character is Imu. This Gods Knight seems like she's too tall to be Imu. Imu's pretty short. And while this Gods Knight does appear to be shorter than "Pranks", I think she still looks taller than Imu does, usually. So, while I think that it would have been a neat plot point for Imu to meet her "phone buddy"...I don't think it's likely.
Although....I do wonder about the "DoDoDo DoDoDo" sound effects that happen right as she's "poisoning" the Giant Guard. Is this supposed to be some form of "The Drums of Liberation"? Maybe a corrupted or reversed version of the Drums sound we hear when Luffy goes into Gear 5? I don't know, I'm curious what the original Japanese sound effect is, and if it's somehow similar to the Drums of Liberation sound effect.
Also, one last piece of baseless speculation for this chapter.
Could that be Nika's Sword in Jarul's head?
We saw from Nika's Silhouette in Chapter 1018 that Nika used to have a Sword and a Spear. Could this be that sword?
Now, it's possible the "Sword and Spear" are more of a metaphor, maybe? And I could see Luffy's "Sword and Spear" actually being Zoro and Nami. Zoro for the sword, obviously. And Nami for the "spear" because that spear actually looks a bit like her Clima-Tact.
But, I don't know, I just get this funny image in my head of Luffy trying to pull this sword out of Jarul's head like it's the Sword in the Stone. Even if it is too big for Luffy to actually use. And Norse Mythology actually has a equivalent to that myth, with Odin leaving the sword Gram in a tree, that the hero Sigmund eventually pulls free. (Also, that sword is eventually used to kill a dragon...just sayin') So, that could be our connection back to the Norse-inspired land of Elbaph.

So, yeah, I think this chapter was actually more packed with information than it might get credit for.
