Speculations Did Ryokugyu beat Weevil fair and square, or did he use hostages?

Did GB use hostages?

Remember that the Marines were harassing the Sphinx villagers before Weevil showed up. If GB bodied Weevil fair and square, why didn’t the Marines continue to harass the villagers afterwards? It makes more sense that some sort of deal was involved where Weevil gives himself up in exchange for the villagers being left alone

Because Marco went back to the village like literally within a couple days

Did you miss that the only reason the villagers were harassed is because he was gone?

That doesn’t make sense. If GB beat up Weevil, why wouldn’t they just continue to sack the village right after Weevil was put down, which was long before Marco got back there? You think that Mr. “You have no rights” told his men to leave Sphinx Island alone?

I mean he's still a Warlord at the end of the day. Warlords < Admirals, Mihawk is the only exception as he's the WSS and is a very special case compared to the rest.
He’s a WB clone though, that’s the issue. Warlords don’t have a specific limit to them, the ceiling is Mihawk. Weevil’s technically the last warlord introduced into the story and is only known for his strength. His starting bounty was the highest iirc, just slightly below 500 mill.

It’s up in the air how strong he really is, could be that GB is really just him. Maybe Weevil’s retardation makes him incapable of using his true potential at any given notice. So a top-tier could still theoretically make light work of him because of how dumb he fights. But if we’re talking purely stats then he might be on that level.

It was a Nezumi clone (Captain Ratel) that tried to harass them while Marco was gone (and mentionned it himself), and he likely got sent to the hospital for a while
And now Marco is back to guarding the village again.

Because they left before Ryokugyu arrived.

Marco leaves -> fodder marines go to sphinx -> fodder marines get injured and flee -> Ryokugyu goes to sphinx and takes Weevil -> Marco arrives back at sphinx

For all we know the fodder marines could have just gone somewhere else from HQ, this is a silly non-argument counterpoint

The rest of his men wanted to sack the place too. Do you really believe that GB, Mr. “You have no rights,” wouldn’t want his men to steal WB’s treasures and bring them back to the WG?

Why wouldn’t Ryo himself order WB’s treasure to be seized? He had a crew with him

I have to say, the combination of him only having one on-screen win, which was then followed by him shitting his pants to Shanks and how surprisingly ugly his design is, especially how he was based on such a cool dude, really makes me totally uninterested in anything he does.

Oda also blatantly retconned his character. Dude went from blatantly ignoring Akainu’s order to kick Fuji out of Mariejois (he even made food for Fuji and was just chilling with him) to wanting Akainu to pat him on the head and call him a good boy. Pre-retcon GB was a way cooler character @EmperorKinyagi

Didn’t he capture Weevil after Wano? He flew to Wano without an escort, which is why he had to ask for a battleship to be sent to him, but he had a battleship with him at Sphinx
Before, from the Vivre Card timeline.

The reason Ryokugyu was in the area in the first place was for Weevil, then he went AWOL and flew to Wano despite Sakazuki's protests

I suppose Oda realized that with Kizaru's upcoming participation in Egghead that none of the Admirals would be antagonistic anymore.

Irrelevant.

Assuming this is actually true, which I’m skeptical of since VCs are dogshit, that’d mean that Weevil left random fodders in charge of escorting a still conscious Weevil all the way to ID. Meaning GB is a legit retard
