Character Discussion What do you want Shanks to be?

Do you want him to be a good pirate like Luffy? Do you want him to be evil? Or somewhere in the grey area? Would you like an evil twin and a good Shanks?

Please elaborate as to why!

Personally I want him to be good... Otherwise Luffy's whole backstory will be completely overturned, and all Shanks scenes would become insincere. Also I don't believe Oda would have the heart to make Shanks anything but good.

I disagree. Now that we know about the Nika fruit, Shanks obviously has potentially reasons besides being nice to help Luffy. Also, he morally lectures but doesn't do anything as his crew sinks the ships of surrendering pirates or pirates who are retreating.

I want my boy to be a gray character cause a great pirate can't and shouldn't always be a good guy even our MC Luffy isn't all goodie goodie but sadly I think Oda will make my boy the picture perfect hero rather than adding more layers to his character to make him even more interesting

I disagree. Now that we know about the Nika fruit, Shanks obviously has potentially reasons besides being nice to help Luffy. Also, he morally lectures but doesn't do anything as his crew sinks the ships of surrendering pirates or pirates who are retreating.

There’s going to be more context to the Barto scene. For all we know someone else sabotaged the ship in order to spark war between shanks and Luffy (barto has been on that island for weeks after all)

There is no moral grey left after the introduction of his fleet of fodder that Shanks protects for no reason other than just to protect them.

Shanks is just a good person.

I think Shanks dying against BB would be the perfect conclusion for him, one that was long advertised also and the only one that could pay off all the hype around their fight.

Also, is the only real way in which Oda can actually hype Teach and his crew to be a credible menace for the OP, possibly worst than Xebec and on par with prime Roger/WB.
As of now, the only real hype the BBP have Is Kuzan being among them, but Kuzan Is probably not even a "real" BBP.

I think it depends on what we find out about the one piece world, Shanks in my opinion should have a great life after all the trouble he went through, but since the afterlife exists in one piece he would have a way better life in heaven anyway, even if he passes away because of a fight, but he may not pass away because of it,
