he's a pirate before he's anything else, so i expect that to ground all his decisions, like just a 'morally good' version of regular pirate behavior (He protects people he's allied with but he's not gonna go and help liberate islands in someone else's territory like luffy does, He/his crew will attack people that actively threaten his territory or reputation since that undermines his yonko status, etc.)

I think he'll have actual apparent flaws as a character like every character ends up having when we eventually end up seeing them as the focus of an arc. Probably more on the idea of him being a 'coward' like some characters have called him before, and the idea that he didn't live up to his potential and talent because he didn't become his generation's pirate king like Buggy mentioned, among other things. But I doubt the narrative will make us feel like it was a bad choice, cause he's Toei/Shuiesha's money printer and one of Oda's favorites.


Also I don't mind if other people just say 'i wanna see evil shanks' or whatever, at least that's honest and I can't judge just expressing your wishes as a fan,

but people actually predicting that we're actually getting a 'Shanks is Evil' reveal, and betting on it..


this is the internal monologue of someone who is meant to be evil? Is he meant to be a sentient being capable of breaking the 4th wall just trying to trick us with his thoughts? just don't get your hopes up is all I'm saying

As much as I like good character is actually evil plot twists, I definitely prefer Shanks to stay good or at least neutral. He was always one of the least chaotic Yonko and mostly did things that would end conflicts, so him being evil would be just bad writing.

He won't turn out evil, if he may do evil things.

I think he's got good intentions and will cross lines to achieve his objectives, because the enemy, the World Government, is ruthless.

Sadly he will be shown good guy , Oda loves him to death . I definitely want him to be morally grey character but the introduction of his twin should end all of the theories that he is pal of World govt .

I like Shanks to be a grey character
Just like in the real world none of us are perfect
I wanted Shanks to be a character that everyone can relate to
A kind person who can turn into a ruthless devil when he gets into trouble in life
Also the idea of a twin is nonsense to me I would rather have that person be a saborg

in chapter 1 he says "needless killing doesnt make you a man" then has a guy murdered execution style for literally no reason 10 pages later. the only lessons luffy learned from shanks are "pirates are cool" and "pirates dont fight fair"

why does Robin sweat and show fear when she learns Luffy has connections with Shanks? Right after Enies Lobby too.

Really? You’re acting like you were fooled just like Uta. Didn’t you watch the whole movie where it’s revealed that Shanks actually defeated the demon king to protect the island and then took the blame so that the Navy wouldn’t go after Uta?

Come on now. Even such propaganda was only done to pretend that Shanks is anything but good.

Maybe because he's a Yonko and Robin thinks he's ruthless just like most Yonko are? :kayneshrug:

if he did that he'd have taken the demon summoning song, or left them money to rebuild. instead he guaranteed that Uta would suffer and guaranteed the demon would be summoned again from her feelings of loss, fear, resentment etc

shanks cut his own arm off before he jumped in the water and sent it to the Underworld Boss in a box like a yakuza's finger. Sorry boss, I lost the Nika fruit. A kid ate it and drowned at sea.

I don't understand showing mercy to surrendered/retreating Pirates. Shanks has duty to protect the Island. Killing the attackers however brutally is correct way. Some one kills your loved ones and you can't attack them cause they are running away? What kind of retarded logic is that. This is not conventional warfare between nations. These are things killing and looting and running away.
