They decided to kill him once they learned he betrayed them and studied the void century. While Shanks capturing Loki and delivering him to Elbaf, only to then appear in Elbaf to recruit him, instead of immediately delivering him to Marijoa makes no sense. Just as it makes no sense for a holy knight working for the WG to steal the Nika fruit from the WG ship.

Why is the WG only just trying to recruit Loki now if they could’ve tried to recruit him at any point in the last 6 years lol? If they wanted Loki for 6 years straight, why is this the first time they are trying to recruit him?

The real explanation is that Saint Shanks is a slave to his orders. He was ordered to return Loki to Elbaf for the sake of the power balance which Saint Shanks is incredibly, weirdly devoted to maintaining for someone that is supposed to be a pirate with no interest in politics lmfao.

Now that the world is ending, Saint Shanks is ordered to recruit Loki to bolster the Government’s military power for the final war. The WG is essentially offering Loki a “Get out of the Great Cleansing free” card lol. And they’re only attempting this now because the Great Cleansing is only just now getting started.

The WG is an incompetent failing power. The Blackbeard pirates are ascendant. We see this in marineford, which is the halfway point of the story(not literally). Blackbeard has been mentioned by Saturn as having a special heritage, and is on his way to get 2 ancient weapons potentially. Blackbeard is named after the IRL most famous pirate and is maybe the most pirate like character in the story and he believes dreams will never die and wants to rule the world.

Word being destroyed twice has a lot of implication for the endgame
Most assumed the void century was the first thing such event happened.

I firmly believe Joy Boy was from Imu's era, and Nika was from an era before that.

This also tracks with Imu calling Luffy "Joy Boy", not Nika.

If you look at the city of Alubarna, created 4000 years ago, it's clearly built in a manner to deal with heavy flooding:

The high walls + staircases that can easily displace water within the city?

IMO, this city was built in response to the world-ending event from Nika's time.

So:

1. Nika defeats an ancient evil empire, which collapses. This is the 1st World End
2. The world slowly rebuilds, and, by Joy Boy's time, there's a powerful, technologically advanced kingdom made up of multiple races/tribes called the "Ancient Kingdom".
3. Joy Boy fails to keep his promise, and Imu and the WG use the Ancient Weapons to causes the 2nd World End.
4. The WG rebuilds the world in their image, and consolidates power/tries to erase their crimes/the true history.
5. We are here in the current era, with Imu trying to defeat the next incarnation of Nika, Luffy. The Great Cleansing the Gorosei described is another worldwide flood that is looming on the horizon.
