Controversial Riboku hate thread

#81
If anything Riboku should be praised for getting rid of Kanki.
Outside of a couple of cool moments, Kanki's "strategies" relied on the opponent to become brain dead or massive help from the plot that would ruin the arc. Not to mention his character that went from a cool bastard that you had to put up with because of his talent to more and more of an edgelord as time went on. He also would ruin the opposite character by how they would interacted with him like how he makes Sei speechless by saying some nonsense when Sei verbally matched Ryofoi, Qi's King etc... Or how Riboku goes gay for this absolute clown rapist bandit who caused this entire srmy to be assembled in the first place and wants to have a discussion and spare his life for some reason. Kanki peaked at coalition and had a cool moment against Kochou but the Keisha arc and Gian arc weren't good for him.
Thank you Riboku.

Imagine complaining about plot armor while being a Kanki fan lmao :suresure:

Seems like this type of fantasy romanticized historical manga isn't for you my brotha. And you're correct on the video game part, but that should've been clear when a 4ft chinese kid is jumping 10ft into the air in the 2nd/3rd chapter of the series, or we get introduced to chinese men who're damn near 10 ft tall and make the world's strongest men irl look like babies. Or when the likes of Yotanwa are able to sense people inside the palace, or when Ouki is jumping off of a 20ft wall casually or... the existence of Rankai.

Could you pinpoint the time where Houken was asspulled? Or atleast clarify what you mean by an asspull.
People just dislike Houken and come up with inane reasons to hate on him. It's extremely funny to see this specially on reddit, where most of the Houken haters are Kyoukai fans at the same time. Like, how do you even hate Houken for being an "aspull" and then like Kyoukai whos even worse in that regard?

I personally don't like Houken, cause the payoff was irrelevant at the end. It didn't do much for Shin other than give, imo, the weirdest fight in the series to date. Where Hara wanted to make sure Houken wasn't beaten clean so he had Shin die too. Which led to the Fandom hating on Kyoukai for magical powers, when she was just a tool to give Shin a Jesus like moment. Although, the HSU interactions during that fight are top tier, and the choreography especially when Kyoukai fights him is top tier.

And theres a stark difference in Kyoukai and Houken. The former is an actual commander and has had psuedo-military training in the form of being an assassin. Though I think anyone complaining about Kyoukai or Houken being asspulls in the series where little kids can jump 10 feet, people break ground by walking... horses 3 times the normal size of a horse.. exist.. is bit weird.

To Gekishin's credit, he had the talent to replicate Gakuki's warfare to a point where it simply held many similarities.
You added nothing to what I said, Gekishin was never some brilliant prodigy, he's simply a decently smart general with the talent to observe and learn from others, and he happened to learn from one of the goats

He has no weight as a general as well, since he's basically a merchant selling himself for money, with him telling Saitaku to let Ryofui know if he wants to hire him. Overall, he's a slightly better GG than somebody like Mougou, with a fake reputation rivaling the likes of Qin 6, thanks to Gakuki.
A warfare similar to Gakuki
60 years of experience
Decent warrior
Great leader
Above average smarts
"Observation" 99

You call this man slightly above Mougou? Good lord man, just because he likes money doesn't mean he isn't a highly accomplished general with extreme talent
When it comes to talent Mougou doesn't even compare to someone like CGR

Gekishin with his fake hype thought he could handle a 2vs1 with Riboku and Houken, he instead got his ass clapped within hours.

And no Houken wasn't simply talking about martial might. Houken was referring to Gekishin being a fake great general like the caliber of Ouki and such. As Ouki told Houken, great generals can draw insane power from the burden they carry from the lives of thousands on thousands upon their shoulders. Gekishin in that sense was a fraud, as established not just from his fake rep, but also in his convo with Saitaku.
Gekishin obviously isn't of the caliber of Ouki when you paint the picture of the ultimate general of the heavens and so forth, that doesn't mean the man isn't an esteemed general and head and shoulders above most

So no it's not simply him as a martial person, but he as a great general is a fraud, because he cannot push himself to the extents the likes of Riboku and etc push themselves for victory for their states, to carry out risky strategies to the point Choutou willingly went out and died to carry out the strategy. Folks like Gekishin are their own life first and money first. Not to say he's not a decently talented individual, but he's tiers below Zhao 3/Qin 6 lol.
He simply overestimated his martial ability seeing how he had slain multiple bushins in the past
Iirc he also heard the rumors saying Ouki was shot by an arrow, correct me on this
If he were a fraud he wouldn't have taken a shot at Houken, but Houken is just built different.

I'm not gonna get into another Gekishin/Moubu debate, since it'll be same shit over and over.

You posed this question to my point of Kanki and his PIS.
What do you make of Gekishin, an esteemed general who got dogwalked by Riboku’s amazing tactic, summoning invincible pokemon Houken
So what is your issue with Riboku neg-diffing this bum in a 2vs1??

You said Kanki's victims have to be downgraded for his gimmick to work, that is an extreme exaggeration imo
I never said I dislike what happened to Gekishin, shit happens afterall, but I don't see how Kanki's tactics are any different
Genpou as legendary as he was as a master strategist, he couldn't conceive such bandit general doing warfare in this manner, this is not the strategy he's used to dealing with, which is why this young confident cocky ambitious genius bandit was able to trick him
And it came at a cost, Kaishibou destroyed his HQ, but he was able to make it up by claiming the enemy HQ

Next was the coalition stunt, that one is not very technical I'll admit, funny regardless

Battle of Kokuyou was a masterclass of character, between Kanki, Keisha and Kisui. One of my favorite arcs, usually people have their complaints, but overall with Kisui being the hero of Rigan, Keisha being this overconfident deputy of Riboku, and Kanki for the first time exposing all aspects of his army and warfare that made even Ouki say "yeah this guy is legit"
Anyway, there were no exaggerations in this arc, just like Keisha through his instincts countered Duke Hyou on the first day, Kanki through his dirty methods discovered Keisha's weakness, and he almost claimed his head with the Zenou charge that day if not for the chad Kisui fighting for his glorious city. Keisha died as a result of that attack, but against a legit PIS inducing character which is Shin

Eikyuu hills has exclamation marks, mainly due to how Kanki's plan fully depended on Shin taking the hill, but that's more of Shin's fault not Kanki's, again a PIS inducing character

Against Riboku? This is a complicated one, I said this earlier in the thread, no one seems to question how Kanki suddenly found himself trapped in Riboku's cage, no advance parties whatsoever
The ambush he made on Riboku was an artwork, and no Riboku is not stupid for being blinded by his emotions, Kanki massacring those citizens would've been a tragedy, and for all he knows Kanki would've done it in his desperation, every minute was valuable which opened up room for fault in their formations

Kanki's character has its own imaginative side to it just like most other characters, the shonen aspect to their characters

Idk man I read shounen for entertainment value not for some deep stuff, sure I can appreciate well written characters like Fujitora but I also love absolute chads like Kanki who are just highly entertaining everytime they show up lol.
Bingo. Like we all know what we really read a battle shonen for lmao

This arc was premium bullshit
Everyone complained about Kanki doing a basic and logical maneuver to ambush Riboku, who was blinded by his emotions fearing for the common folk, but Riboku suddenly spawning a 300k army forming a cage around Kanki, who doesn’t even have a couple hundred meters advance party? Sounds good
:whitepress:
Facts bruh, the entire Kanki vs Riboku was straight ass. At this point I get bored whenever Riboku is involved because he always pulls shit outtve his ass or somehow knows Qins plans somehow and has already had 2-3 years of prep time lmao
