I actually did, that and Fishman Island. I started One Piece in 2016 (during Dressrosa i believe) and wanted to catch up quick. I heard people say that arc was skippable so i did lol.
But I did go and watch it in the anime a few years ago and it totally worth it. 8/10 arc
It´s sad to think, there will never ever be anything like Jaya, Skypiea or Long Ring Island again. Just a simple adventure. Everything will be related to Nika, the void century, stupid WG villains etc.

Get into a new series for the love of it, but immediately follow the fandom like a sheep and skip what the fandom tells you to skip, without even giving the material a personal opinion.

Skypiea embodies a lot of the themes of One Piece well, has a great villian, one of the best flashbacks in the series, and one of the best endings to an arc in one piece. It may seem like it starts out slow but skipping out on it means missing out on one of the best one piece arcs.

I actually love the WG plot, the ”simple adventure” arcs I have always found skippable and boring. I’m aware of how unpopular this is but I am really invested in the current plot and I was really bored during arcs like Skypiea which is why I ended up skipping it.

It embodies absolutely nothing. I skipped skypeia and I still understand the lore of one piece, skipping that arc is absolutely okay. Hell I haven't even watched Luffy vs enel

It embodies Adventure, taking big risks, the meanings of personal treasure to people, Luffy´s commitment to people he sees as similar, literally ¨a mans dream never dies¨
