I am unsure if there are actual legit Gods in One Piece's world, but it seems there's some kernel of truth to it.

Unless it was like the Gods were just the most powerful people of their time and the Sun God was a upstart commoner. And then they and the other "Gods" died and were replaced by the World Nobles.

Uranus and Poseidon are supposed to be named after gods.. That's the only one I can think of but it's probably nothing and just reference to real world gods... Other than that all other gods are fake in one piece..

So I assume the first world war was about sealing away the serpent. They managed to do that and then Joyboy would've freed it as a result of his destruction but the King's prevented that from happening.

In this case current day Imu and the earth God may not have the same goal.

Lily wasn't with the WG. She betrayed them and spread the poneglyphs. The other nefertari members might not have known about it at the time. But learned from the Lily letter. So they refused to join the other CDs after the war was over and 20 kingdoms won.
