I've always had this theory that Vegapunk could awaken Zooans, and that's how Lucci, Kaku, and the ID guards became awakened.

Personally I think it's more impressive they got to the strength they are without awakening that just means no one ever pushed them to use their fruit to its absolute limits

More importantly: If the sword breaks, would the DF spirit move on to the nearest fruit? How does that work with inanimate objects?
