This is my take on the entire scenario:




Nah, that isn't it, at least for the majority.

Most dudes pushing this aren't dumb, just agenda driven. While there are certainly some who takes things at face value.

I basically have always seen it as

Roger - legend tier
Rayleigh - emperor tier
Gaban - admiral tier

Yes Roger and the emperors are in the same tier but he has portrayal above all of them except for Whitebeard. And yes the admirals are portrayed to be at the top with the emperors but because of haki the emperors get the edge.

And then luffy zoro and Sanji will be

Luffy - joyboy tier
Zoro - top emperor/"legend" tier
Sanji - peak admiral/emperor tier

So basically each is one step above their original counterpart

The points I have written throughout both threads:
- A random giant's opinion or knowledge may not be entirely accurate. We still haven't seen the guy in action but we will next week if we're lucky so he should prove himself soon. That he's Roger's left hand and Sanji's parallel is nothing new.
- Ryuma is well known throughout Wano as the Sword God, that's just an epithet like Pirate Hunter or Straw Hat. His black blade is what proves he was one of the strongest in the verse. Being known as "Sword God" isn't a title nor a representation of his strength relative to the rest of the current day characters, and nothing puts him above Mihawk, who actually has things going for him.

I don't agree that the statements are contextually similar, but it's funny nonetheless.

Yeah I know of the Jinbe/Arlong stuff but to be fair that was like 50 volumes before Jinbe was introduced and early One Piece powerscaling was iffy due to Oda assuming the series to be much shorter, Crocodile and Dorry and Broggy being big examples.
In comparison both Roger and Rayleigh are properly etablished characters and as we're in the final saga the overall powerscaling of where characters stand should be clear in Oda's mind. Even his Gaban being equal to Roger isn't mean to be literal and come from giants I see it as being much more credible
