Based on how oda repeats past history as present plot

I am quite certain Joyboy was probably travelling as a pirate. Came across Lily who was trying to fool him. He end up helping her in the same way Luffy helped Vivi.

Lily fell in love.

Joyboy didn't give shit

And, Lily rejected marriage alliance with that insecure simp.
Joyboy married someone tho, since we assume he passed the D name

You’re a fellow Luffy fan so I’m gonna give it to you straight

It’s a losing bet

Oda’s not gonna embarrass an old legend and we know Oda’s fully willing to embarrass Luffy

I don’t think Luffy’s gonna lose but he’s gonna struggle
This, the odds of Oda making an old legend look anything but good in their first showings are extremely low. Even more after having said legend directly compared to Roger and Rayleigh in term of status/strenght.

Not directly though, Shanks' haki was compared to Joyboy by the giants too, if Joyboy is a deity in some way I don't think that can be true, and his saying "I will save you from the past, hasn't it always been like that?" with a happy portrayal and the Nika connection I think may point to that, maybe giants just don't know powerscaling
Joyboy was just a dude who ate a fruit tho?

Reborn

Throughout Heaven & Earth,I alone am d Honored One
Joyboy married someone tho, since we assume he passed the D name
I believe D name is the name of the clan to which joy boy belonged.

Perhaps he passed it or perhaps he didn't but one thing I am sure of Luffy being joyboy 2.0 is more to do with prophecy based on some divine attribute or curse or reincarnation than bloodline
