Speculations So it seems like Scopper is also the Man with the Burn Scar

While subtle, Scopper seems to have a flame shaped scar, which is how this person was described originally.

As the TCB notes mention, the phrasing isnt exact normal and it implies the scar is literally flame shaped. Reading the VIZ chapter, it just says "Man with the Burn Scar"

Now other characters like Saul and Aokiji have burn scars, but as weve been told by both, its unlikely to be them because Saul hasnt left Elbaf in 20 years and Aokiji just recently got his scars from Akainu.

Imo Scopper has more to him than we think, and pure logic would actually support him being the Man with the Burn Scar. He's extremely powerful, meaning he can probably move a poneglyph. He also is one of the few people on the planet that should have known where the Fish Man Island Road Poneglyph would be.

That said, his ship and powers are currently a mystery, but that would solidify this claim.

Makes sense, especially the missing road pone glyph is from fish men island and the Roger pirates were on good terms with Neptune so him giving the poneglyph to Gaban is believable

I’m torn.

That scar shape is definitely meant to make us think it’s Gaban.

We also know that although Gaban stays on Elbaf, he doesn’t always stay on Elbaf- went to see Crocus.

He has the knowledge to take the FI Road Poneglyph (that is the missing one, yeah?) and hide it.

And quite importantly- how many more characters can Oda damn well introduce? Do we need another fucking silhouette. Is this finally Shiki’s turn?

Against it:

Why would Gaban bother doing this? Ray knew Roger better and was stronger, but didn’t feel the need to go stealing and hiding Poneglyphs. I think it’s quite an anti-Roger Pirate thing to do, really. I would have thought they would be happy to let people adventure and find it on their own.

While we admittedly do not know his fighting style other than axes, but does axes and whirlpools really combine?

He does leave Elbaf- but he also does stay there. Is he just… randomly going out for a spin in his sick ass black boat, with his RP, sinking a few ships and going back? What’s the point of that, really?

Would it be a secret if it was Gaban? He’s well known (apparently).

Is Shiryu’s government speculation just a red herring?

I think I’m coming around the idea that it’s Gaban, the thing that was throwing me off is that in that panel Law is implied to have knowledge of who it is. Like I can understand why people think Kid is heading there, but what I can’t understand is why Law would not go to elbaf himself if he knows where the man is.

I’m started to believe that Law has meet Gaban, either in elbaf or outside and had the last poneglyph in his hand. It is funny to think that he was acting all shady because he was ahead of them and did not want to them to know. Which could also explain why he went to the furthest route, as it leads deeper into the grand line and eventually to lodestar.

What this implies though is that Blackbeard eventually gets that rubbing from Law, and that means that Blackbeard right now has 3 or all 4 RP rubbings. I personally would like this as if it means that the SHs are the underdogs right now, and it will instill a sense of urgency once they find out

All decent questions, but Id also point out that Rayleigh wasnt actually well known on Sabaody until he started fighting. He was arrested and auctioned off as some random old man at first.

Id say Shiryu was just guessing as he was a former government employee, and while it could make sense, its just a guess at the end of the day.

As for his motivations, the most I could imagine is that he is gatekeeping One Piece in a similar way to how he's gatekeeping Loki's key, to make sure said person understands the consequences of finding One Piece.

People used to think that person was Shanks, but it could in fact be Scopper who does this. Idk just my 2 cents on that.

Fighting style is anyone's guess tbh, how that ties into sinking ships via whirlpools I have no i have no idea.

He might be. So I'm not gonna debate against that. Perfectly reasonable theory.

Only thing is: I don't want it to be Gaban.

To me it would be much better if the man marked by flames was a morally grey character who wouldn't mind giving it to anyone. This encompasses both Luffy and Blackbeard. Gaban is definitely not going to be giving it to any evil pirate, as the LHM of the crew, he should know better than most people the characteristics of the man "Roger is waiting for". It should be something the strawhats should earn, and no I don't mean it in the sense of the Luffy vs Gaban fight that is upcoming but in the way they got the other 3. If Gaban gives Luffy the RP then it feels like Luffy was gifted it. Roger Pirates to me, have done their bit in the timeline, I really wouldn't want them being involved with the RPs. They serve their role much better as a bunch of retired pirates who're just mentoring the new generation, exactly like how Rayleigh did it. Rayleigh didn't help them with it at all and I don't think Gaban should either. It should be a completely new morally grey character who would only give it for some personal gain, to both good pirates (Luffy, Shanks) and bad pirates (BB).

Honestly Gaban is strong, were one of the first to find the History of the World and the Poneglyps. It wouldn't be off if he's leading one of few last active Roger pirates on OJ, to protect wrong person from finding the Onepiece. Technically they should, for being the first to find history, also earns them the responsibility of spreading it or stopping it from spreading, since it could very well change everything in Onepiece.

My only issue is, Gaban feels retired. To his outfits to, his kid and wife, he's living like a retired pirate would. I wasn't even expecting him to actively involve himself in Luffy matter/Shamrocks matter but i guess Oda wanted these two to meet each other & for Gaban to show how Luffy still needs to grow idk.​

If he didn’t want to try and collect poneglyphs till post Wano, why get one that’s already being protected by a powerful fighter who’s your ally?

It’s easier just to wait and once you’re ready just claim it then because you don’t put any target on your back.

we have never seen any of his scars, or under his shirt so burn scar could be ✅
when he destroyed don kreig’s crew I’m pretty sure it created a whirlpool, or something like that, cause I know most of them drowned I’m pretty sure so whirlpool✅
could have a poneglyph, as Mihawk’s flag has no anything, which is unusual for flags, so he could have used the poneglyph paper as a flag and made it black so poneglyph could be ✅
plus this would give a way for Zoro to fight Mihawk, cause cross guild should clash with strawhats sometime and if Zoro fights Mihawk he can claim the poneglyph

plus keep in mind he travels a lot, traveled to shanks to meet up with him, literally traveled from the around grand line-new world to the east blue to chase don krieg, literally sailed from his island to marineford then travelled all the way to buggy and croc. Plus keep in mind, buggy wants the one piece, and if Mihawk has the poneglyph that would help buggy a lot

Shanks had the best opportunities to take the last RP but he didn’t , that makes no fuckin sense , sorry .
