I just want to say The Super Bowl was Mid , Kendrick’s halftime show was Mid , and Drake > Kendrick as an artist. Kendrick’s music is not mainstream it’s for a certain audience if we’re being real… Drake is a Global Artist and rap is a secondary thing to Drake it’s not his primary genre he didn’t come out as a rapper, singing/melodies is what Drake is, Now for the Superbowl I will say Kdot did himself a disservice with the Song selection but even still Kendrick dont Have the catalog for a Super Bowl and he got exposed, he’s not among Usher, Beyoncé, Rihanna , Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Type artist that have a large catalog of hits. Making hits is not the bar for artistry. It does not reflect talent, it reflects commercial appeal, and we know the music industry run by cartels, so how much of that appeal is every truly organic?
The craft and substance are what make the artist. Drake is skilled at the act of rapping, but he's a weak artist. He's a become a derivative of himself, it's almost tragic.
