Hybrid Kaido's TB easily had broke thru Yamato's defence and her attack and had her bleeding heavily.
Luffy was going toe to toe against even stronger attacks in base. And I know Kaido was still suppressed but we had an understanding of how strong those attacks were thru Yamato.

There's no need to downplay Base Luffy here. Just give gaban the credit he deserves
We can't understand how strong those attack are thru Yamato cause Yamato is not the same as luffy .
Luffy DF make him a a fucking monster tank even with someone using haki on him.
When luffy turn gear 5 he was tanking Kaido slice attacks with his bear body no haki that that cut off one of the scabbards arms and thru rocks and mountains .
Yes luffy took some attack in base but he also took some attacks in gear 2 and 3 and 4 and was fighting in them .
We have to wait and see the pics but gaban was control the fight and then luffy get annoying and say fuck he about to go G5 and Zoro also said fuck it and join in and Gaban say nah i done .
But we got see if luffy hold any real damage and we all know that base luffy is the slowest version of him so why the fuck he even fighting in that if someone has certain level of speed vs him .

Shamrock falling right after his introduction was never gonna happen anyway. He's too big of an endgame player to fall in the final "prequel arc" before the real final saga.

But then, who will be Luffy's opponent this arc? I doubt it'll be one of the new HKs or Gunko. Maybe Loki really won't be an ally.

Yes
He will simply refuse orders, not fight the government, and he will be killed which will incite Akainu to come to the good side also.
That not going to happen .
IMO Oda loves his admirals none of them will be dead by the time the story done .
We can power scale yonko and admirals all day but only one group really expendable and that is the yonkos .

Yeah I can see him continuing to fight for the WG until he's incapacitated. It would definitely surprise me if his downfall was this arc though, that would be a twist in my eyes
I actually think he's more likely to turn on Akainu at some point. Oda went pretty heavy on the whole conflicted aspect of Kizaru, too much for me to believe that he'll just get the Bertholdt treatment.

It kinda sets up parallels that way:
A. Kizaru went against a friend for evil, now he does it for good
B. Akainu fights both of the other C3 members.

Plus Kizaru's inspiration Borsalino 2 was set up as a rival to Akainu's inspiration actor Bunta Sugawara in Truck Rascals. And Kunie Tanaka's character betrayed Bunta's in Battles Without Honour. So there's the actor inspiration aspect.
