I'm asking when it will happen.

Currently two Opponents for Luffy is confirmed which is Blackbeard and Imu.

And Each of them will getting an arc. Same won't be going down in the same arc. That shit has barely ever happened apart from Wano where luffy wasn't involved in second Fight (Linlin vs Law/Kidd).

- Elbaf doesn't seems like an arc for Akainu. So far I don't even think so Akainu will come to Elbaf.

- Next Arc War , will be probably race to raftel , Blackbeard luffy.
- Next to next arc , After figuring out One piece and void Century , they will go fight imu.

Now where does Akainu vs Luffy even fit?
Unless Ya'll want to accept Akainu as the second Rate villain of an arc like Cracker from WCI.


Now at best only two big arc remains or maybe one small arc between them.

Post time skip has been Parallel to pre time skip.

I generally agree in this day and age that Akainu will not fight Luffy, mostly because Oda can’t actually kill Luffy and so him fighting a serious Akainu is just not possible, and because Akainu’s character is just headed in a different direction.

Luffy may fight a similar version of Akainu to the version of Kizaru who was emotionally compromised and not actually serious about fighting back, but Oda simply can’t write Luffy ever fighting a serious Admiral, Oda made them too powerful.
