I mean it makes sense. It’s why everyone’s devil fruit power seems to match their personality because their imagination makes the fruit work a specific way.

I think it simplifies the fruit power more than anything, and questions like: “How does a Brachiosaurus dislodge its head” is answered simply like “Because that’s how Queen imagined brachiosaurus’ hunting.”

It's vague.

Imagination and desires are vague concept to build your power system on.


And, vagueness ends up complicating things more than simplifying it. We saw something similar with haki when it was introduced in the beginning - and look where we end up with

I think as long as Oda keeps it simple like a brachiosaurus shooting its head out, a triceratops flying, a shadow making zombies, a string that makes people puppets, shit like this where yeah you can see how someone would imagine it, then sure no problem.

The problem with haki is it’s too vague where it should be and detailed where it shouldn’t. Oda treating it like a skill tree and a basic leveling where “oh you can only have base CoO but that base CoO can be better than Future Sight but future sight is also an advanced form of CoO” is where shit gets dumb.

Sadly true. Its still a good manga, but we as reader can tell when Oda is being lazy on something. This is one of the example.
