I think the biggest thing is narrative. Shanks and Loki are having a huge clash in the new world, while Kaido at the time was bullying farmers talking about starting the greatest war or something. His crew is busy trying to gas the minks to death to find some samurai or whatever, while not even visiting the country where war originated in. He has no idea what's going on in the world or what he's talking about.
