Fair. I just feel like kids character is better dead then completely retconned to a cheerleader watching Luffy accomplish his dreams. Feels wrong for kid to turn out like that tbh.
I think Oda can work something up with Loki and Kid that doesn't feel like the guys just exist to suck Luffy off, but the way the story is going it is likely a possibility everybody will become a luffy fan

Or maybe Law is just that important of a character?

Oda didn't plan on Vivi being anything more than fodder but then he centered an entire arc around her. Oda is allowed to change his mind for his own reasons, not over fandom.
I'm willing to agree to disagree on this, but I think it's pretty obvious that Law being by far the most important supernova was done because he's just popular

Shanks has been one of the top 5 most popular characters in One Piece since the beginning
Except for the last poll where he was ranked 11th if I'm not mistaken
The shit movie Red got the highest possible sales because of Shanks' 30 minute appearance
Are you comparing Shanks to Kid?
Kid and Law have no story importance
Law's importance is more because of his fruit Lore than himself
Law literally saved Luffy in Marineford

Law and Kidd have had major impact to the story. Beating a yonko is more impactful to the world than all of what the SHs accomplished combined in pre-ts. It made every other major player move and shifted the power dynamic.

Law had important background narrative just like the Rocky Port Incident. Became a warlord, half responsible for the defeat of Joker - an underground mafia boss in the new world.

Law is also a D clan member whom will have a key role in the final war, like what are we talking about here

Law was a major player all post-ts long, basically the deuteragonist. He‘s basically had more impact to the story than most top-tiers sitting on their ass.

Yeah I know which is why I’d rather kid stay dead. Law at least it makes sense for him to follow that path, he wants to learn the history of the D above all he doesn’t care if Luffy gets the glory. Kids not like that. He wants the glory and the titles.

No, he quite literally said Vivi was an enemy

He probably had a whole different plot in mind at the time, maybe not even a kingdom involved.
I've looked it up. He did say he had the plan of the Arabasta Kingdom arc a while before. It's a little ambiguous, it could either mean that he had the arc planned up but it originally didn't include a princess in distress, or it could mean he didn't deviate that much from the plan and he just planned to introduce a Vivi other than Miss Wednesday.

The only thing that makes me think he may be alive is that he is a D and he didn’t die smiling

He just meant miss wednesday would be a villain. But then he thought "what if I made her to be the princess?"
I always interpreted he had in mind a princess for that saga, he just changed his mind of who she would be
