HK are the Tobi Roppo of the government: aside from Shamrock, they serve the purpose of being the enemies of the low and mid mugi, the revs and maybe the SH grand fleet while the monster trio + Sabo + Dragon + who knows go against the Gorosei, Imu and Shamrock.
The stronger HK might be EoS Jinbe's fight; the stronger (Shamrock excluded).

In Gunko's case, Oda being Oda means woman vs woman and so Gunko is going to be Nami, Robin, Belo Betty or Koala's fight. That is the type of challenge we are talking about.

It looks like Oda just didn't want Sanji meeting Gaban or seeing the circle (as he'd have recognized it from Saturn) and Nami was only included so they had a reason to have Road help. No Road, no one to go back and tell Hajrudin, no plot.

1. Sanji would have gotten embarrassed worse than luffy.

2. Nothing suggests that sanji would have senses the circle. Dudes observation is only at its best when women are involved. Based on feats he hasn't shown better observation feats than zoro, luffy nor jimbe

It isn’t an indicator, it is a design choice. The indication of an awakened fruit is using awakened abilities and being stated to have awakened.

Sanji literally saw the circle Saturn came out of, with his eyes. He still has way better CoO than Zoro, but that's beside the point. Sanji drew a cake in full ass detail diagram after seeing it once. He'd have recognized the circle. He's not got the peanut sized brain of of Luffy and Zoro or the short term memory loss of Zoro and his 'oh that's a Lunarian,' ass.

Zoro fans loves to parallel Loki to Zoro because the whole demonic theme and the fact that the presentation of the two showed them being cuffed.

Well also Sanji has a demonic/devil theme with the diable jambe (also the thriller bark transformation). As well there is even the failed marriage between them and one of Big Mom daughters.

Lucci and Kaku didn't have clouds when they were not awakened.

Lucci and Kaku did have clouds after they awakened.

Luffy didn't have clouds when he was not awakened.

Luffy Christ did have clouds after he awakened.

Sanji's only a devil if Nami's involved per his saying he'd become one at first meeting, and about Enel if he harmed her, a second time.

Side note:

I don't want to consider this because I ship SaNami as endgame, and I thought Gerd liked Hajrudin. But Oda naming the chapter Older Women for one very tiny moment is odd. Was it just for Usopp's convo or is he saying Sanji has a chance with Gerd?
