General & Others What is the point of putting Jimbei in crew ?

I’m glad he joined but I don’t disagree with the consensus that he doesn’t fit with the crew currently

He’s kinda just… there all the time

He doesn’t participate in crew shenanigans and rarely partakes in any discussion either

He’s just in the corner all the time. It also doesn’t help that he doesn’t really have a gag that would allow Oda to include him/give him more screentime

A bunch of reasons, but I'll stick to the ones I've been theorising about lately:

A Fishman will be necessary from Lodestar onwards to reach Laugh Tale.

I suspect it has something to do with whirlpools and believe Gaban is the Man Marked by Flames. I also believe the ship he uses is the Oro Jackson, which was left in his care as the crew navigator and explains how he's capable of travelling so quickly.

imo Jinbe, and perhaps to a lesser extent Franky, will show why they're absolutely needed to make the final stetch of the journey.

I also think the Oro Jackson gets destroyed on Elbaph specifically so the Sunny's whirlpool capabilities have to be acquired on Lodestar, perhaps using that bit of Adam wood Franky has come across as building material or barter.

Remove the memes of him disrupting the Monster Trio and he really hasn't done much the past two arcs.

Wano it at least seemed like Oda had plans for him, Sanji getting easily frustrated with him while he's respectful, giving his best efforts for Luffy, him and Robin meshing well, maybe more interactions to come but then the two following arcs have Jimbei barely present.

I guess it's not unique to Jimbei since Brook has gotten less focus than him during Onigashima and post-Wano. Just a shame, Jimbei's cool and very formidable, I guess Oda simply struggles to manage the large cast.
