The cope is the idea that the monster trio is going to end the series multiple tiers away from one another which is ridiculous to say now.

We’ve seen it pre timeskip with the gears only for Oda to say “no they’re still comparable”
We saw it post timeskip with “G4 Luffy solos his crew” and “Jinbe will join the monster trio” just for Oda to once again disprove that
Post Wano we had people saying Luffy will break away now as an emperor. But then in egghead and Elbaf, that also doesn’t seem the case.

Luffy has definitely broken away. He did it before Wano. Luffy is in the top 6 - 10 in the verse. Zoro is in the top 20 - 30 and Sanji is in the top 30 - 40. That’s a gap. This isn’t me trying to down play them either I can name characters stronger.

I like a lot of characters and for some of them the power-level Is not important, but for some strenght is a means to an end.

For example, I like Kizaru a lot and he doesn't necessarily have to be at the very top of the manga. However, Akainu has to, because he has to fight Luffy or at the very least Dragon.

Or: I like Hiriluk and Buggy, no power level involved, but now It cannot be for Teach?
