I still love Shiryu. I just don’t stan him online lmfao.
Shiryu was already so strong and oozing portrayal pre timeskip, he really didn’t need a combat Devil fruit. Magellan had multiple Warlords and Ivankov shitting their pants in fear over him, and the Level 6 Prisoners also feared Magellan. Magellan negged the same Teach who defeated Ace in one shot:
And Shiryu was an equivalent or greater threat than Magellan before he even ate a fruit lol.
It really is a shame man. One day we’ll take Shiryu back from Zolo fans given how rapidly these idiots flush characters down the toilet when their agendas get humiliated lol.

No, gear 2nd Luffy did.
Base Luffy still got hit despite seeing the future v. Base Kaido's TB in chapter 1001.
I don't understand the problem really.
Even base Luffy with half mastered FS managed to land a hit or two on Katakuri in the middle of heated combat.
The problem was
(1) these hits were too few and far between - due to the difference between Kata's & Luffy's mastery of Fs.
(2) didn't have enough raw power to cause significant damage... like the hit i showed.
Snakeman, henceforth, was a reliable way for Luffy in landing hits on Katakuri.
Neither does Kaido's TB lack in raw power, nor does he lack in FS mastery compared to Kata tbh.
And nothing's stopping base Kaido from really doing the same thing he did here...
And respond with a TB of his own... just with the added advantage of having seen the Future, a la Shanks' Divine Departure against Kidd.
Dragon mode wrecks him.
Greenbull took a Boro Breath from Momo & wondered whether he was trying to burn down the entire town.
Not to mention the Dragon Twisters he invoked on the Roof which negged Kidd's lego blocks.
IMO, Kaido remains the only character in the manga so far, capable of both physically tagging Katakuri & destroying him with AoE.

Shiryu was the first time Teach recruited someone who could effortlessly murder him and his entire crew. But certainly not the last. Lol
I don’t know how you could watch Magellan neg Teach in one blow and conclude that Teach was stronger than Shiryu.
