Initially the story was about the quest for Pirate King. But not anymore now, it is bigger than that. Roger is not the pinnacle anymore, now we have Joyboy vs Imu. Roger is just big dog in previous generation that didn't do shit against Imu.
But of course as Sanji fans you guys @Jesse Pinkman really like to bring the good old days, because just like Roger, Sanji is not big dog anymore nowadays.

They are far more important to the OP story than Xebec

they were both driving the whole plot

Roger started the whole manga and the quest to Pirate King was/is the main bread for 80/90% of the story

Xebec was Roger’s greatest opponent I kinda feel God Valley was single greatest event to ever happen which was erased .

I feel Roger and Xebec both had different views of how pirate should be which reminds me of Hashieama and Madara .

The cast is insane if you think about it.
Xebec is clearly above the regular Yonkou lvl stage, than you have a fucking Whitebeard who reached almost his prime(he was at least a Yonkou lvl too), Shiki another top tier, Linlin a top tier and lot of YC leaded by Kaido.

That crew was peaked and very strong...

Xebec is Madara
Joyboy is the Sage of the Six Paths, Imu is like a Kaguya maybe but at least he wasn’t introduced at the literal last minute of the show.
